Little Becky Howatson

Today I'm sharing more pages from my family heritage book! These pages show my mom when she was young- they were so much fun to scrap! She is adorable!

Card stock is by Bazzill, patterned paper and sticker embellishments are by Scenic Route, flowers are by Prima and Making Memories...

I showed these pictures to Zoey and asked her if she knew who it was. She says "That's Me!" and, she does look a lot like my mom! Here is a picture I took of Zoey yesterday morning... please excuse the dirty face! Hee!

Anyways, today is busy for me! I am finishing up swaps, hopefully playing along with Kristina Werner's new color inspiration challenge, grocery shopping, and getting some food ready for tomorrow! I love the holidays and am very excited about spending Thanksgiving with my sister and her in laws tomorrow! Hope you all have a very special Thanksgiving, too!

A few pages from this weekend...

Hi! I had a great scrapbooking weekend in Nags Head! I had a chance to get started on a heritage album for my mom... well, restarted... I had worked on some pages this summer using a 9x9 album. Some of the pages were just too cluttered with too many pictures! I decided to use a 12x12 album instead, revamped my paper pickings and got started! I am using Scenic Route's Sonoma line for the entire book. Luckily, it is perfect for all things man and woman, wedding, baby, and heritage... Here are a few of pages that I finished:

The Title page:

My mom when she was a baby:

Mom, a little girl:

I tried to keep the embelishments simple... flowers, buttons, jewels and ribbon. I want the book to look clean and classic but still pretty. All the card stock is by Bazzill Basics and the flowers are by Prima and Making Memories.

I hope to share some more pages of my heritage album with you later this week!

Blue and Chocolate Heart

Hello! I thought I'd post a card I made last night. My friend Nicole and I have been exchanging color challenges and here is our latest one- I found it on Williams & Sonoma:

I challenged us to use Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla. I thought I would do a Christmas card with these- (wouldn't snowflakes look pretty in these colors?) but ended up with my trusty Always set instead! Here is the card I made:

Here is the inside:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Always set, Together Forever set, En Francais background stamp
Ink: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Timber Brown Staz On
Paper: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla card stock; Bella Rose DSP, watercolor paper
Other: Scallop Edge punch, Aqua Painter, Very Vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon

I first stamped the heart onto watercolor paper with Timber Brown Staz On ink. The Staz On is important as it does not bleed when water is added. I used my Aqua Painter to blend some of the residual ink from the Bashful Blue ink pad onto the heart. After that, I cut around the inside edge of the heart and inked it with Chocolate Chip ink and a sponge. I matted it onto Very Vanilla card stock with dimensionals and cut around it. Then, I stamped the heart image again onto Bashful Blue card stock. I cut around the outside edge of the dots this time and added a little ink to it, too! For the card, I stamped a piece of Bashful Blue card stock using the En Francais background stamp and Bashful Blue ink. I inked around its edges using Bashful Blue ink. Then I cut a strip of the Chocolate Chip printed paper from the Bella Rose collection to add to the side. Before I adhered it to the Bashful Blue panel, I added the Very Vanilla scallop edge. Next, I matted it onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and added it to my Bashful Blue card base. I love how it turned out!

I'm packing today to go on a fun scrapbooking weekend getaway to Nags Head, NC with some of my friends. I am getting excited!! Hopefully I'll have a few projects to share when I get home!

Thanks again for taking a look at my blog!

Little Hedgie Card

For this week's color inspiration challenge on Kristina Werner's blog she challenged us with some great colors! Here is her inspirational piece:

Aren't those great colors together! When I am sitting down to make a card, I never think to put them together but I just love this scheme! I think I may end up doing a couple more cards with it for Thanksgiving... I'll post them if I get them done! Hee!

Anyways, here is my card for this week:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted...

Stamps: Fun and Fast Notes set
Ink: Timber Brown Staz On; Close to Cocoa, Elegant Eggplant Classic inks
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, So Saffron, Close to Cocoa card stock; Sweet Always DSP; Close to Cocoa DSP (from last year); watercolor paper
Other: Scallop Edge punch, Aqua Painter, Dimensionals, Piercing kit; ribbon by Morex Corp.

I've found that watercolor paper really does help when watercoloring... The color blends just perfectly! And I like the orange peel texture! I stamped my little hedgie on the watercolor paper with Timber Staz On and colored him in using the residual inks from my classic ink pads and an aqua painter. I matted him onto the eggplant card stock and pierced around him. Then I did a little distressing. My favorite tool for this is not the distressing tool, it is my little tool for applying the Design Elements! It bends and texturizes my paper just perfectly! Hee! I love it when I find another use for a silly tool!

Next I cut the pumpkin patterned paper out and distressed the edges with the piercing tool and some sand paper... I matted that with the cocoa card stock and again with the saffron card stock, tearing one of the edges. I added a strip of cocoa DSP and a scallop of saffron before putting my main image down with dimensionals. Last, I added the bow for a last little pop of white. The card is 51/2" square, all finished; one of my favorite sizes!

Anyways, I'm off to post this over at Kristina's website and to check out everyone else's entries! So much fun!

Thanks for peeking!

An Aniversary Gift...

So, I started this project back in June, just before my wedding anniversary as a gift to my husband. I had the paper cut and stuck down to the chipboard album and about half of the pictures scanned onto my computer... that was as far as I got! This weekend I finally got through the rest of the scanning, cropping, and printing of the pictures. I cropped at my friend Dawnette's house on Saturday night and got it all finished! Hee! Here it is- the album says Happy Together:

Goodies:
Book by Bo Bunny; patterned paper and flowers by Prima Marketing; Glitter Mist by Tattered Angels; Masks, rhinestone strips and stickers by Heidi Swapp; Stickers by 7Gypsys; Assorted ribbons and buttons...

Each photo is hand cut and sanded to give it an older look. I also sanded around the edge of the book to give it some texture. I also spritzed it with a couple of colors of the Glitter Mist, using Masks here and there... you really can't see much of these- they're pretty much covered by the pictures!

Anyways, my favorite part of this project was looking through all of our pictures together and remembering just what we were doing... It's weird how time flies, isn't it!

I also worked on another project with my neighbor and friend Robyn... she needed a gift for a new grandma! Here is what we came up with:

Don't you just love the flowers? I have a huge stash of Primas and it felt like kind of an accomplishment to use so many! We kept the inside pretty simple but there are at least three flowers on each page! Hee!

Oh, and what is up with the weather here in DC?? It is snowing right now! Just a little but I swear it was in the 60s just 2 days ago! My daughter Zoey is excited though... she is ready to catch the little snow flakes on her tongue!

Anyways, have a great evening and thanks for checking out my projects!

Snow Falling on a Tree Card

I ended up making this card last night. I love the way the snowflakes look on the Kraft card stock!

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Season of Friendship set; Best Wishes and More set
Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red Classic inks; Whisper White Craft ink
Paper: Kraft, Confetti, Baja Breeze card stock
Other: Chocolate Chips wide grosgrain ribbon, Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon, piercing kit, Distressing tool

I started the card by stamping the base paper. I kept the Baja Breeze snowflakes pretty light by stamping off onto my scratch paper first. Then I followed them with the smaller, white snowflakes. I cut the snowy areas out freehand and inked them with Baja Breeze. Next, I stamped the tree and the bird and cut them out, leaving a small boarder around them. I added them to the card front with a little adhesive and a Dimensional under the bird. I then worked on the bottom element. The Baja Breeze strip has been pierced and distressed. I added the wide Chocolate ribbon and the red on top. After adding it to the card, I think it looks pretty good! I wanted to put a sentiment on the card but couldn't find the right place for it... I decided to add it to the inside instead!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I am definitely looking forward to it!!

Another Snowy Tree

I liked how yesterday's card turned out so today I finished another one in the same style! Here it is:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Christmas Classics set; Best Wishes and More set, Season of Friendship set
Ink: Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze Classic Inks; Whisper White Craft Ink
Paper: Kraft, Confetti, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, and Always Artichoke card stock
Other: Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, Kraft taffeta Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Dimensionals; Liquid Applique by Marvy

I added Dazzling Diamonds to the liquid applique before it was dry. I think it turned out really pretty! I think I'll make another card like this one using the tree from the Season of Friendship tonight... We'll see how it turns out!

Hope you have a great day!

Snowy Trees Card

After being away for a few days for my cousin Sara's baby shower, I am back and playing along with Kristina Werner's latest color challenge! Her inspiration this week is very pretty but I had no idea where to start with this card! Here is what she had for us:

And here is what I ended up with!

Goodies:
All items used are by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Christmas Classics set, Best Wishes and More set, Season of Friendship set
Ink: Old Olive Classic Ink; Whisper White Craft Ink
Paper: Sahara Sand textured card stock; Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Sahara Sand card stock; Maine Blueberry DSP
Other: 1/2" circle punch, Floral Frenzy embossing plate, dimensionals, Liquid Applique by Marvy; Matte finish brad by Lasting Impressions; ribbon by Offray

I ended up starting with the layout. I used a sketch I tried a while back for one of SplitCoast's WICKED challenges. This one really stuck with me and I've been doing my best not to use it too much! There are lots of little details on this card so let me tell you about some of them you may have questions about. The little flowers at the bottom are dry embossed using the Floral Frenzy embossing plate and a light box. The circle is made by tracing one of the little plastic containers that the SU! brads come in and cutting it out. The scallops are just 1/2 inch circles I cut using my 1/2" circle punch and glued to the back of the larger circle. The snow is also a little tricky looking... it is actually Liquid Applique that I let dry and heated up with my embossing gun. I love the way it looks and it gives the card some great texture and dimension in real life! If you have any questions about all this, just ask!

Hope you are all having a great week!

The Winner!

Hi! Happy Election Day! I just got back from voting... no lines! It was great! My poor husband had to wait in line for over an hour this morning. Want to see who I am electing?

Doesn't she just look soo presidential playing like that! I'd vote for her...

Anyways, I thought I'd post today to announce the winner of my blog candy offered over the weekend! My hubby randomly picked number 5- Nicole! So, congrats to you!! Hee! I'll have to track down her favorite candy bar- 100 Grand to add to the goodies! The girls got one of those trick-or-treating but my hubby grabbed it up too fast! No 100 Grand for me!!

Well, hope you enjoy your day! Thanks again to everyone who played for the blog candy!
