Something New :)

I have good news to share!  Yesterday Nina announced the new additions to the Waffle Flower Crafts Design Team and I am one of them! :)  I'm so excited to be joining her team- her stamps are so fun and I've enjoyed working with them from the beginning.  I can't wait to see what the new year brings!

We are gearing up to celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend- some of my family will be in town and I can't wait to cook, eat, and spend time with them all!  Hope you enjoy the holiday as well!

A Crabby Christmas Card for the Inky Paws Challenge

Hi!  Happy Friday!  I’ve just packed all my crafty goodies up and am heading down to Richmond for a scrappy retreat with Doodle Crew Retreats!!  I’m so excited!  I look forward to these retreats all year and this time I really feel like I deserve a weekend away. Lol!  These last couple months have had me going in overtime!

Today I’m playing along with this month’s Inky PawsChallenge!  I chose one of my favorite stamp sets from last year- SEA-sons Greetings:

I just love that little crab!  I stamped the Joy and the crab onto watercolor paper and  diecut it into the banner shape.  I also stamped the crab again so that I could paper piece him over later.  I colored them with the residual inks from my ink pads and a water brush.  When the crab was dry, I cut around him carefully and added him on top of the other one.

The papers are from the Echo Park Christmas Cheer 6x6 paper pad.  I cut them into banner shapes to go along with the diecut banner.  I also added a bit of twine for embellishment.

I hope you have a chance to play along with us this month!  Don’t forget to pop over to the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog to see what the rest of the team has made!

Merry Christmas Card for the Waffle Flower Challenge

Hello!  It's time for some Waffle Flower Challenge inspiration!  Have you had a chance to play along yet? This month's challenges were so fun!

I used the inspirational photo to base my card on this time- I loved the gold glitter and the little animals.  Here is what I came up with:

I paired the Holiday Labels- Merry stamp set with the Flower Circles die set for this one.  I stamped out the Merry Christmas label in dark aqua ink and diecut it with the larger circle die.  I love the little stitching lines!  What a fun detail!  I stamped the deer next, with brown ink, and then added the tiny snowflakes with tan ink.  I wrapped the label with a bit of linen thread and tied it in a bow.

My white card base was embossed with a star embossing folder and then overlayed with a strip of vellum down the center.  I diecut the flower from a soft gold glitter paper and added it to the card with thin foam adhesive.  I added the label to the center of the flower  with a thicker foam adhesive to finish it all off.

I hope you get a chance to play along with the challenge this time around!  Don't forget to pop over to the Waffle Flower Blog today to see what the other members of the challenge team created too! :)

Thanksgiving Table Treats for SRM

I had so much fun making these cute treat boxes for the SRM blog- I can't wait to display them on Thanksgiving!  It's always fun to give a little treat on the holidays and I thought I'd use a kraft pillow box for mine this time.

I used stamps from Darcie's, patterned papers from Pink Paislee's Solstice 6x6 pad, gold doiliesStrawberry Coral twine, and the Fall sentiment stickers from SRM to decorate my boxes.  I colored the stamped images with Prismacolor colored pencils and fussy cut around them.

Isn't this sentiment perfect for this cute image of the kid dressed up as a turkey?  I love how they look together!  I also love how the gold doily looks peeking out from behind.

Although the boxes don't easily pop open, I used the Strawberry Coral twine to keep them closed through dinner.  We have a lot of kids at our holiday party and I thought the extra twine might keep their hands away from the treats until after dinner. :)

The sentiment stickers were adhered to white cardstock.  I cut them into shapes using a couple of my favorite diecuts.  I used foam dimensional adhesive to adhere them down- I love the dimension it adds!

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you have fun planning your upcoming holiday table decor!

Newton's Nook Designs November Release- Beautiful Blizzard

Welcome to the second day of Newton's Nook Designs November release!  Today's set, Beautiful Blizzard is so pretty!  It was inspired by paper quilled snowflakes- isn't that cool?  Here is what I made with it:

I wanted to keep my design simple to show off all of those beautiful snowflakes!  I chose shades of blue to stamp them with.  I stamped them all over a panel of white cardstock and then cut the edges off, stopping at the snowflakes and fussy cutting around the edges that stuck out.  I used a pencil and ruler to do this :)

The sentiment is stamped on a small vellum tag.  I embellished with papers and glittery epoxy dots by Doodlebug Designs.  I also added some pretty opalescent threat behind the sentiment tag.  Don't you love the cute sentiment?

Newton's Nook Designs November Release: Winter Tails

Good morning!  I'm excited to be joining in with Newton's Nook Designs for their November release today!  They have some cool winter sets out this month- so fun!  Today's set is all about the SNOW!!  Winter Tails has cute little critters up to their ears with snow!  Here is what I was inspired to make with it:

The winter after we moved to Woodbridge was pretty cold and brought the most snow we had ever seen outside of the mountains!  We were excited about it all-- except for the shoveling!  lol!  I knew the stamps in the Winter Tails set would be a perfect compliment to the photos from this event!

I stamped the cute critters out on white cardstock and then used the snowy border stamp to make their snow drifts longer.  I colored them lightly with Copic markers and added some glitter with my Wink of Stella pen as well.  I fussy cut around the top of each animal, leaving the snow drifts below solid.

I created a long snowbank along the bottom as well by stamping the border stamp over and over.  I added the sign, sentiment, and snowman parts as well- aren't they fun!!

The title was made with stickers but I stamped the tiny snowflakes from the set around it with Versamark and heat embossed them with white powder.  I also used one of my favorite winter time products, Chunky White Embossing Enamel by Stampendous! to create the snow :)

It's not often that I have time to scrapbook these days but I still love it!   The papers are by Doodlebug Designs.  The stickers are by Echo Park, Bella Blvd, and American Crafts.

Snowy Greetings Card

Good morning!  I'm so happy it's Thursday- it means tomorrow is Friday and I've got some fun crafty shopping planned!  I can't wait!  :)  It also means that it's my day to share a card on the Newton's Nook Designs blog!  I used the new Flaky Friends set to create this one:

I started with a piece of white cardstock and drew a hill with my pencil so I could place my snowmen in sort of a curved line.  I stamped them all out and erased the line.  I colored them all using Copic markers, adding just a bit of glitter to each one for some fun sparkle!

When I was finished coloring, I pieced the hats and scarves on over the snowmen.  Then I fussy cut around each of them, only going to where the pencil line connected them all so that the hill below them was intact.

I used some fun patterned papers from Lawn Fawn and Doodlebug to really make these cute snowmen stand out.  I also stamped my greeting onto a banner and added it to the bottom of the card.  The sequin snowflakes are from Stampin' Up!  They are so cute!!

I made a snowman for each person in my family- isn't that fun?  I love that they included a cat and dog in the set- I can include Morris, too!  :)

Hope you have a great day!  Thanks for popping by!

Inspirational Card set for SRM Stickers

Hello!  It's my day on the SRM Sticker blog and I thought I'd share my project here, too!  Recently I created a set of cards to give as a gift to our choir director at church.  She's such a nice lady and I thought a package full of inspirational cards using the Shine Your Light sentiment sticker sheet would be perfect for her!

Here are the cards all bundled up in the A-2 Clear Box.  I fit 6 cards and matching envelopes in here perfectly.  It's been decorated with a few things I had left over from the cards.  The patterned papers and stamps are by Lawn Fawn.  The white doily, sticker stitches, sentiment sticker, and Pink Sorbet twine are all from SRM Press.

Here is a look at the cards I put inside:

I started with a yellow card base and embossed it with a large polka-dot embossing folder.  I splattered it with a bit of yellow mist and let it dry.  Next, I added a black sticker stitch from the Valentines Sticker Stitch sheet across the left side of the card.  I added a banner of pink and white polka-dotted paper next.  The sentiment sticker was added to a white diecut tag.  I adhered that to the card base at an angle and then added a strip of striped patterned paper and some diecut hearts.  I finished off the look with a few sequins for some sparkle.

For my second card, I stamped and fussy cut out the sun and clouds.  I added them to a blue card base, popping out some of the clouds for a bit of dimension.  I added a few sequins as well- they really sparkle in the light!  Next I added a strip of the patterned paper to the bottom edge of the card.  I added a white sticker stitch just above it and tied a bit of Pink Sorbet solid twine over the top.  I added the sentiment sticker last to finish off the card.

This card was a quick one.  I started with a white card base and added the pink striped paper to the bottom edge.  I added the sentiment sticker next, lining it up with the edge of the pink paper.  Next, I stamped the adorable hedgehogs and hearts and colored them in with my Prismacolor colored pencils.  I added just a bit of glitter to the hearts and the Caribbean solid twine to finish off the look.

I started this card by stamping and cutting out the rainbow and clouds.  I cut a white panel to fit the middle of my card and matted it with gray cardstock.  I splattered a little pearl mist over it and then adhered my rainbow.  I added a strip of the happy day patterned paper to the bottom and a strip of the blue stripes just above it.  I added just a bit of a black sticker stitch over the top of it too.  Next, I stuck the sentiment sticker on to white cardstock and cut around the label shape.  I adhered it to the panel with foam adhesive and then added a few sequins for accent.  Finally, I added the panel to the middle of a yellow embossed card base.

This one might be my favorite!  :)  I started with a white card base embossed with large polka-dots.  I diecut the banner out of pink striped paper and tied some Stone solid twine around the top.  I added it to the middle of the card base.  I stuck my oval sentiment sticker to some white cardstock.  I stamped the bunnies on either side so it looked like they were holding it between them.  I colored them with my colored pencils and then fussy cut around the entire image.  I added it to the card with foam adhesive so it popped up a bit.

I wanted to use this pretty sentiment on my last card.  I started with a blue card base and spattered over it with blue mist.  I added the sentiment sticker next and then the white doily that had been folded in half.  I added a strip of yellow patterned paper next and the pink sticker stitches just over that.  I finished everything off with a healthy dose of sequins.

Here is a look at the whole bunch together- these were so fun to make!

I'm sure my friend will love these cards!  Have you ever made a set of cards for a gift?  If it's on your list of things to do this holiday season or any time for that matter, don't forget SRM's A-2 Clear Card Box.  It's perfect for packaging up your handmade cards.

Thanks for stopping by today! :)
