Family Always Layout

It's been awhile since I've shared a scrapbook page- it's been awhile since I've scrapbooked at all really!  I have been in the mood lately and pulled out some of my extra Urban Market goodies from Teresa Collins Designs along with our 2013 family photo.  I like how it turned out:

The purples and blues in the photo went so well with the Urban Market collection.  I love it!  The sparkly patterned papers compliment it nicely, too.
The layout was inspired by one I saw on Laura Vegas' blog- I loved how the layers of paper weren't lined up perfectly- I had to try it!  Since I haven't scrapped in awhile, scraplifting totally helped- it's a little hard getting back in to it!  lol!

I tried not to over embellish, another thing that tricks me sometimes!  I just want to add everything lol!

I love card making but scrapbooking is so rewarding sometimes- my family loves to look at our books and remember the fun things we've done.  I am hoping to get a few more pages done now that I've found my groove again.  :)
Thanks for stopping by today!

Inspired by Project Runway

Hello!  Hope your Monday is going well!  Mine is going... like a Monday... glad it's winding down.  Over the weekend I had a fun idea to play along with this season's Project Runway (which premiered last Thursday incase you missed it!).  It's one of my favorite shows and I'm always so inspired after I watch- I am going to try to make a card based on each episode.
This week, the designers received a chest full of random fabrics and they had to create a look using them.  I thought this was so fun!  I had my husband pick 6 random patterned papers from 6 different 6x6 paper pads.  Here is what he chose for me:

Not too bad! :)  I didn't have to trade like some of the designers did lol!  I used each one of these on my card, going with a quilt inspired look that would make the crazy patterns look like they were supposed to go together:

I added some cute stamps from Lawn Fawn, twine, and a doily to create a focal point.  I embellished with a flower embellishment topped with a sequin to add a little fun.  I colored the banner stamp with Copic markers in colors pulled from the papers as well.

It was fun challenging myself with this and I'm hoping that something from each Project Runway episode can translate to a card.  If they don't, it's OK. :)  I'll still enjoy watching them all!

A Beachy Inky Paws Challenge

Happy Friday!  I'm sure ready for a nice, relaxing weekend!  Today I'm sharing a cute treat box I made for this month's Inky Paws Challenge over at Newton's Nook Designs.  Here is what I made:

I picked the cute image of Newton on a floaty from the Newton's Summer Vacation set to play with, coloring it with my Copic markers.  I fussy cut around him when I was done.
This cute clear triangle treat box from SRM Stickers was perfect for holding some fun gummy shark treats- I'm sure this is what Newton would be snacking on as he's floating out in the bay! :)

I added a few bits of patterned paper to the bottom of the box and chose a sentiment sticker from SRM Stickers to go along with the theme.  I die cut a piece of vellum with a label die and added the sentiment over the tom.  I layered it over the patterned papers and then added Newton to the top.  I finished off the look with a bit of Crushed Curry twine.

Wouldn't these be fun treats for a beachy get together?
I hope you have a chance to play along with the Inky Paws Challenge this week!  For more inspiration, pop over to the Newton's Nook Designs blog- the design team made some cute cards!!

Tinsel & Company Christmas Cards

Hi!  Today I am sharing on the Teresa Collins Design Team blog- I thought I'd share here, too!  I had a chance to play with the new Tinsel & Company collection over the weekend and made a couple of cards.  My favorite part of the collection is the gold foil printed patterned paper.  It's so shiny and pretty!  Perfect for holiday cards!

My first one features the gold polka-dots on kraft patterned paper (Dots Paper) along with a couple die-cuts from the Tinsel & Company Ephemera pack:

Isn't that gold nice!!  The ephemera pieces are distressed looking- like old wooden signs.  I really love the look!  Here is a closeup:

I kept this one simple, embellishing a little with burlap and machine stitching.  Thank goodness for the Teresa Collins Clear Hold Adhesive by Xyron- it was the only thing that would keep this burlap ribbon in place!

My second card features some of the pretty stamps in the Tinsel & Company collection:

That sentiment stamp is sooo pretty!  I want to use it on all my Christmas cards this year!  Here I've stamped it with a pretty silver ink on a vellum journaling card.  It was hard to get a picture of the metallic shine but boy is it nice in real life!  Here is a closer look:

I've used papers from the Tinsel & Company 6x6 pad on this card along with an Ephemera Tag, a couple of Decorative Stickers, and some Sequins from the collection.  The stars on the card base are another stamp from the Clear Stamp set as well.

This collection definitely put me in the Christmas mood!  It has a classic look and will work so well for so many different projects!  I can't wait to pull it out again!

Thanks for joining me today!

A Thanks Card

Hello!  I had a few minutes while enjoying my coffee this morning so I thought I'd pop on and share a card I made over the weekend.  My friends came over and we played with the new Stampin' Up! Blendabilities markers.  Here is what I made:

I enjoyed coloring with the new markers- they weren't like Copics but were easy to blend and the colors were rich and vibrant.  I paired the pretty flowers from the So Very Grateful set with my favorite bread tag die and the new big polka-dots embossing folder from Stampin' Up!  The adorable thanks die is by Lawn Fawn- another new favorite!  The doily and twine are from SRM and the gold mist is by Heidi Swapp.

I love how the coloring turned out!  I'll definitely be playing with them again!

Happy Anniversary Newton's Nook Designs!

Welcome to Newton's Nook Designs Anniversary Blog Hop!  Did you come from Danielle's awesome blog?  I'm so excited to be participating- I can't believe it's already been a year since they've opened their doors.  To celebrate I've created two cards- one using a set from their first release and another using a set from the most recent release.
My first card features one of my all time favorite stamp sets, Just Say Cheese- the images and puns totally crack me up!  Here is my card:

I wanted to create a bright, clean, fiesta inspired card since I was using the queso image.  I imagined it was sitting in a pretty vintage pyrex dish :)  I colored it with Copics, pulling the colors from the fun triangles paper by Bella Blvd.

I didn't have the right colors for the tortilla chips so I improvised and dotted the colors that I did have to create a tortilla-ish look :)  It worked ok and I didn't have to worry about shading!

My next card uses a brand new set, Newton's Summer Vacation:

I thought it would be fun to use the same supplies on both cards.  I colored Newton lounging on the beach with my Copics again and fussy cut him out.  I used the leftover strips of paper and scalloped border along the bottom edge of my card and added him just above them.

These fun stamp sets always make me happy when I use them!  I'm so glad to be hopping along- I feel pretty lucky to be a part of this team- Newton's Nook Designs is a great company and I wish them many more years of success!

Newton's Nook Designs July Release- Newton's Summer Vacation

Good morning!  I have another fun card for you today featuring another great set from this month's Newton's Nook Designs release!!  This one is a full set of Newton- doing what kitties dream of doing on their summer vacation!!  So cute! Hee!  Here is my card:

I chose the image where Newton is building a sand castle.  I just love this little image!  So imaginative and cute!  I stamped Newton and the bucket onto white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers.  I fussy cut around them and put them aside.  I stamped the sandcastle and the sand in the bucket onto Sahara Sand cardstock and used Copics to color them, too.  I added a poof of Crumb Cake marker with my Spritzer tool to give it a sandy look and cut them out as well.
Then I built my card.  I created a base out of light blue cardstock.  I cut the waves and sand panels using the Custom Panels die set by Avery Elle.  I layered the waves onto my card so they would peek out from behind the sand.  I stamped the bucket, sentiment, and Newton onto the sand and layered my colored pieces over the top.  I added some shadows around them to give them a little dimension.  I layered it on to my card using dimensional adhesive dots and then added a strip of striped paper to finish off the look

Isn't Newton just the cutest?

I used the lovebird flamingos for this card, stamping them directly onto my card front.  I colored them using Copic markers.  I added a bit of gray splatter around them and embellished the bottom with some fun patterned papers, mini doily, brad, and linen thread by Stampin' Up!

Newton's Nook Designs July Release- Beach Party!

Hi!  Welcome to day two of Newton's Nook Designs July release!  They are debuting another adorable stamp set- Beach Party!!  I love this set soooo much!!  Here is what I made:

I seriously can't stop smiling when I see this cute hula bunny!  She was so fun to color.  You should see the rest of the set- there's a Winston image in it too!!
I colored the hula bunny, surf board, and flowers with Copic markers and cut out around them.  I created a white card base and then cut a piece of watercolor paper to fit in the center.  I stamped the waves border with Versamark and heat embossed it with white powder over the watercolor paper.  Then I watercolored over it using Pool Party and Soft Sky residual ink.
Once the watercoloring was dry, I added the panel to my card front and then added the rest of the images.  I stamped the sentiment on a vellum label and added that as well.

Seriously cute!!  I just love this set!

Waffle Flower Challenge- Hello Friend Card

Hi!  Hope you're having a good day!  I have a new card to share inspired by the current Waffle Flower Challenge.  This time I chose to play along with the technique challenge:

Here is the card I made:

I made a pattern in banner form using the Flower Circle set.  I started with a light blue card base and stamped the different sized circles with various shades of turquoise and blue.  I added white in there, too- heat embossing the smaller circle image.
Once my circles were all stamped, I used my machine to sew a banner string in there to connect all the circles.  I added the epoxy dots next to add a little dimension.
The sentiment has also been heat embossed using white embossing powder.

This was such a fun card to make!  I love how the stitching really ties it all together.  I also love how the white embossing turned out.

I hope you have a chance to play along with the Waffle Flower Challenge this month!  Cute Waffle Flower stamps and dies are up for grabs if you do!!  Pop over to the Waffle Flower blog to check it out and to see what the rest of the design team created!

Hello!  I am so excited for Newton's Nook Designs newest release- these stamps are SOOO cute!!  I can't get enough of them!  Today we are showing off the new mini set featuring Newton- Newton's Daydream.  He's sleeping the day away like any good cat :)  Here is what I made:

I thought this one would be fun to watercolor!  I stamped Newton out onto the watercolor paper and colored him in using residual ink from my ink pads as well as a watercolor palette.  The colors I chose came from the fun background papers I used by Bella Blvd.  I gave him stripes like my kitty Momo has :)

This stamp set just makes me smile!  I'm sure you will too when you see it!

A Slice of Happiness Card

Hi!  I have a fun card to share with you today featuring the cute Sweet Summer set by Newton's Nook Design:

I stamped and colored the watermelon image with Copic markers.  Then I cut out around it.  I created a bright robin's egg blue card base and added a panel of white cardstock to the center of the top.  I added the striped patterned paper next- it's from the Take Note 6x6 pad by Doodlebug Designs.  I stamped my sentiment on the white panel and added a stitched sticker by SRM along the edge of the patterned paper.  I also added a bit of black twine and finished it in a bow.  I added my watermelon last, using pop dots for dimension.

It's so fun and bright!  Perfect for the summer :)  I hope you all enjoy the 4th!  :)
