Remix with Miriam :)

A few months ago Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine had such a fun call- designer remix!  The idea was that two card makers would use the same products to make cards.  Miriam and I went for it and our cards even got picked up for publication!  Well, a few weeks ago we heard the bad news about the magazine and our cards wouldn't be published after all...  Luckily we can share them on our blogs! :)

The rainbow and sentiment dies are from Paper Smooches.  I diecut the rainbow out of white and used Copics to color them into a rainbow pallet.  This saved so much cutting!  Miriam's card was done first- it is clean and crisp!  I decided to go with a crisp but collagy look with mine.  I embossed my card base, added some splatter, thread wad, and a doily to my background.  I kept it all white so that the sentiment and rainbow would really stand out.

Remixing is so fun!  I loved the challenge!  Pop over to Miriam's blog to see her card- here is a peek at what she made:

Well, thanks for stopping by today!  I am heading out for a little shopping- wish me luck!  I'm afraid with the holidays so close now, it's going to be crazy!!

Newton's Nook Designs August Release- Simply Sentimental

Good morning!  It's day two of the Newton's Nook Designs release and boy do I love this new set, Simply Sentimental.  It's full of mix and match sentiments!  Here is what I made:

Don't you love the mix of cursive and print together?  I do!  There are so many combinations in this set- it's perfect for every occasion!

I started out with a kraft card base, embossing it with the large polkadot embossing folder by Stampin' Up!  I stamped out the roses from the Love Grows set with peach, coral, and yellow ink on to  watercolor paper.  Then I watercolored over each one with the same color they were stamped in. I also flicked a little coral mist over the top and let it all dry.

Once it was dry, I stamped my sentiment with black Archival ink.  It's such a pretty crisp black ink!  I stamped the larger word first and then added the smaller words to the top and the bottom.  You could easily line them all up on your stamping block and stamp them at the same time, too!
