Happy Happy Happy Birthday Card

Hello!  I'm enjoying some quiet time before the season finale of Downton Abbey and thought I'd pop on and share a card I made yesterday- I was inspired by the most recent AEI♥U Challenge to create a birthday card.  I pulled out my Fill In The Blank goodies (thank you JJ!) and created this card:

Happy Birthday Card 1

I had a modern shabby chic look in mind with lots of gold and watercolored elements.  I think it turned out pretty close to what I had in mind- with a few extra splatters of gold mist!  Sometimes you just can't control that stuff! Hee!

Of course, the Fill In The Blank dies and stamp sets are from Avery Elle.  I used the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wonder DSP for my diecuts- the watercolored papers are so pretty in this collection!  The gold ink is my favorite- Delicata Golden Glitz.  If you don't have this, you need it!  I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold Lame and Georgia Peach for my splattering and the sequins are from Teresa Collins Designs Santa's List collection.

Happy Birthday Card 2

I'm so glad I found time to play along with the challenge- it's Avery Elle's first on their new AEI♥U Challenge blog.  So fun!

Well, I better wrap this up- Downton Abbey is on in just a few minutes now.  I can't believe it's already the season finale!  The season went by so fast- I wish it was a little longer!

Hope you have a great week!

A Calico Whale Card

Hello!  It's a snowy Monday here in Northern Virginia and we managed to get the day off of school!  :)  My girls are happily in their jammies playing with Perler beads.  Thanks to Pinterest, they have found so many fun patterns for them lately!

While they are busy, I thought I'd share a card!  I made this one using the Critters Under the Sea set by Lawn Fawn:

I thought it would be fun to stamp this little guy onto some patterned paper and cut him out.  This paper is from the 6x6 pad of We R Memory Keepers Simply Spring line.  I stamped the sentiment, waves and his water spout with Midnight Muse ink from Stampin' Up and then added some white and navy ink splatters.  I used pop dots to add my whale to the scene.  Lastly, I embellished the top left corner with a little gray washi from My Mind's Eye and some epoxy dots from Teresa Collins.

I'm happy with how this little card turned out!  To tell you the truth, I had made a whole other card with this little whale- a CAS number that I hated!  I threw it away before I went to bed and when I woke up the next day, I pulled it out of the trash and took the whale off... it wasn't his fault! :)  I'm glad I saved him!

Well, hope you enjoy your day!  I'll be getting crafty with my girls for the most part so I will definitely be enjoying mine!

Laughter Between Friends Card

I'm back this morning with another card I made over the weekend using the Feel Goods set by Stampin' Up!.  This one has a modern shabby chic feel to it:

I've paired this great sentiment from the Feel Goods set with the chevron oval from the Oh, Hello set- don't they work well together!  I've embossed the bottom part of my card front with the honeycomb embossing folder and added a little navy washi tape as well as a small strip of patterned paper by Teresa Collins under the oval.  I kept my embellishments simple- a bit of linen thread and another one of those great heart diecuts by Lawn Fawn with an epoxy dot by My Mind's Eye.  I've finished it off with a bit of splatter with my Georgia Peach Color Shine mist.

I seriously love this stamp set!  I see myself using it over and over again- you can't beat that!  I'd like to pair it with the chevrons from the Oh, Hello set next I think!

Well, I'm going to keep this short today- I'm helping my lss get ready for a retreat this weekend so I've got to get out the door early!  I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
