Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine

If you didn't already know, my favorite magazine Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking is closing up shop soon.  I am hopping along with a few hundred of my friends today to let the editors, writers, and contributors know how much they'll be missed.  You may have come from Deepti Malik's blog- she's ahead of me on the hop list.  If not, pop over to check out her wonderful project.

I didn't realize just how sad I am about PC&S going away until just now.  It's more than a magazine- it's a giant sized community of cardmakers and scrapbookers- inspiration, challenges, contests, friends, cheerleaders, people who love the hobby and love to share what they do.  I've met so many wonderful people through the magazine- I can't imagine it not being there!

I didn't create this card with the hop in mind- it was made just for fun!  When it was done though, I knew it would be perfect!  A perfect blend of trendy inspirations that I see everyday on the various PC&S websites.  Everyone working there sparkles and shines just like the metallics and sequins.  And, the bike represents the journey ahead...

The patterned papers and semi-opaque tag are from Pink Paislee's Bella Rouge collection.  The bike is from a die I borrowed from my friend at the retreat I had a couple weeks ago.  We cut it out of silver plastic sheets from Elizabeth Crafts- a tricky feat but we got it done!  lol!

I love how the metallic sheet shines!  Just like PC&S always will in my mind :)  I hope all the people who work there go on to bigger and better things!  I can't wait to see where life takes you!

If you're hopping along, the next stop is Karen Baker's blog.  Pop over to see what she's made in honor of the magazine.  Also, pop over to Taheerah's blog- she put this whole thing together and did a wonderful job!  Thanks Taheerah for making it happen!

I hope you have time to hop along the list- it's a long one but so worth it!  Thanks for stopping by here today :)

Thank You Cath!

Today along with so many card makers from around the world, we are celebrating a woman who can only be described as Moxie Fab!  Cath has been part of my everyday for many years, writing a blog called Moxie Fab World for Paper Crafts Magazine.  She updates it all week long, providing endless bits of inspiration and inspiring me to create pretty things.  It just won't be the same with out her!  I'll miss you Cath!

If you're following along with the hop, you've probably come from Lori Craig's blog.  There are so many people hopping along- what a fun way to say farewell to Cath!

I decided to share a card that I love today- it's cute and colorful and has a touch of sparkle!  All things that feel so Moxie Fab to me!  This one makes me smile:

The snowman stamp is by Darcie's Heart and Home.  The patterned paper is by Pebbles, Inc., and the sticker sentiment is by SRM Stickers.  The sequins were from the You Are My Happy collection by Teresa Collins Designs.  I used my Prismacolor pencils to color this little guy in and afterward, I added some glitter to the snowflakes around him.

So, Cath, merriest of wishes to you!  I'm sure you're off to exciting things!  Thank you for the years of inspiration and challenges that have helped me become a better card maker!

There are literally hundreds hopping along with us today but please pop over to Courtney Kelly's blog next!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Everyday Gratitude Card

Well, it's Monday again!  Funny how it rolls around each week.  Monday is usually welcome in my book- I love a fresh start to the week- but this weekend was extra fun and it felt like it went by extra fast!  I wish it could have lasted a little longer!  :)

Today I want to share a card that I had published over the summer in Paper Crafts Magazine's Card Creations  v9 Special Issue.  I am glad they picked it up because I really did love how it turned out.  It has a lot of my favorite elements together- colors, ribbon, brads, stamp set, and paper company... Here it is:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Stamps: Day of Gratitude set
Ink: Basic Gray, Pool Party, More Mustard
Paper: Naturals Ivory, Basic Gray cardstock; Farmhouse collection by October Afternoon
Accessories: Victoria Crochet Trim, Linen Thread, Antique Brads

Nothing but stamping and fussy cutting on this card so pretty easy to recreate.  Sometimes the basics are all you need!  Today though, I'm going to play around with some fun techniques to try in my next class- I hope they turn out! :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Watercolored Marker Background

Hello! If you looking for my Shaping Up Blog Hop post, it is just below this one! I have a giveaway going on so check it out if you'd like a chance to win!

Today I'm sharing a card that was published in the July/August edition of Paper Crafts Magazine! It is my first publication with them so I was pretty excited when I got the email saying they were interested in it! Here is my card:

Goodies:

Stamps: Hooray set for Studio Calico by Hero Arts
Ink: Calypso Coral Classic pad by Stampin' Up!; Versafine Onyx Black by Tsukineko; Stampin' Up! Markers in Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Calypso Coral
Paper: Sahara Sand cardstock, watercolor paper, and First Edition DSP by Stampin' Up!
Accessories: Baker's twine by Pink Paislee

For the background technique, I spritzed my watercolor paper panel with water and then drew stripes with my markers. I spritzed the paper again and let the markers bleed into each other. When it was just how I wanted it, I set it with a heat gun. Doesn't it make a funky background?

I haven't submitted many cards but it sure is fun when one gets picked up!

Well, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day! Thanks for stopping by!

Cute Summertime Card

Hello!

I thought I'd pop on and share a fun card I made back in January for the Paper Crafts Magazine July/August call. It didn't get picked up but I still love it!  I followed one of the Go-to Sketches that was featured in the magazine:

Goodies:

Patterned Papers: Sidewalks Collection by October Afternoon
Cardstock: Stampin' Up!, Bazzill Basics
Die: Waves Die by Lifestyle Crafts
Sticker: Sidewalks Collection by October Afternoon

I created the rays by die cutting the waves from two different colors of cardstock.  I cut them apart in a ray pattern and then pieced them back together.  The boat is hand cut to look like a paper boat.

This one was a lot of fun to create!

Thanks for stopping by today!
