A Watercolored Rainbow for Paper Sweeties

Good morning!  I'm off to a bit of a late start thanks to the weather- school is still not starting on time but at least they are having it!  I'm feeling a bit cooped up after the last week and a half of cold :)

With the cold though came some springtime inspiration!  Yes, I'm dreaming of sunshine and flowers and rainbows!!  I pulled out some of my springtime favorites from Paper Sweeties and created a fun watercolored card:

The Rainbow and Roses Stamp Set has the cutest sentiments and rainbow image!  I stamped out the rainbow and a few clouds with Staz On ink onto watercolor paper and painted them with a rainbow of dye inks.  Once they were dry, I cut them out.  I diecut a background panel using a journaling card die and watercolor paper as well.  I used my favorite sky blue Copic marker to color it.

I put everything together and added a sprinkling of sequins from the Sweet{heart} Special Edition Sequins Pack- I love the iridescent and red/pink combo in this pack!

I thought it would be fun to add just one more element to this card and pulled out the umbrella stamp and die from the adorable Showering You With Love Set.  Don't these sets just belong together? :)

The umbrella was watercolored and then cut out using the matching die.  I love it when sets have matching dies and this was especially nice since I was using the heavy watercolor paper!  I added the umbrella towards the bottom on an angle.  It tells more of a story with the umbrella included.

Debbie was kind enough to feature this project on the Paper Sweeties blog today!  Thanks so much Debbie!  I had so much fun playing with my Paper Sweeties stamps!  They really brightened my day :)

Hello Spring Card

Hello Spring Card 1

Hello There!  I have a pretty spring card to share with you today using the Easter Scramble set by Newton's Nook Designs.  It's just a small set but boy is it versatile and fun to use!  I went for a watercolored look with it today- stamping the tulips onto watercolor paper and coloring it in with a water brush and my ink pads.  It was fun trying out different patterns on some of the eggs! :)

When I was done coloring them, I added some Wink of Stella glitter to each of them... I know you can't see it... I was trying to wait for a sunny day for pictures but it didn't work out.  I painted in some grass and a little bit of blue around each flower.  Then I added the sentiment- I combined the hello from the Winged Wishes set with the spring from the Easter Scramble set for this look.  Don't they work well together?

Hello Spring Card 2

Check out this set along with all the new spring releases at Newton's Nook Designs!

I don't know about you but in my neck of the woods, spring isn't quite sprung!  I'm ready for it though!  I can't wait to see some of my own tulips come up in the garden :)

Well, hope you have a great day!  Thanks for popping by today!

Another Sweet Bird Card

Hi there!   Our snow melted overnight and it is sunny and pretty outside!  Yay!  It's feeling a little more like spring break today, even if it's still pretty cold out! :)  With springtime on my mind, thought I'd share another spring inspired card with you this morning:

This card uses the same recipe as yesterday's card!  I've paired the adorable For the Birds set with another pattern from the  new Tea For Two DSP pack from Stampin' Up!  The image has been watercolored with my ink pads and a water pen.  I've added a little sparkle by flicking Studio Calico Shine spray over the card.  Shine is seriously a color I couldn't live with out... I'm getting ready to buy my second bottle all ready!  Something else that has become a staple in my craft room is the great baker's twine by The Twinery!  I have been using it on every card lately and seriously love it!

Aren't those little birds cute!  They were fun to watercolor.  I have one more card in this little set to share with you this week!

Well, I hope you are enjoying your day!  We are expecting some fun company any minute! My dad and step mom are visiting with us the rest of the week!  I am so excited and these girls seriously can't wait!  They are excited to do crafts and go on treasure hunts with their Nay Nay and Papa! :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Springtime Card

We are starting spring break today!  And, we had snow overnight... what is up with that!  I had planned on taking the girls out to the zoo and to see the cherry blossoms this week but it is cold and pretty dreary out.  More like a winter break lol!  We will have to revise our plans I think...

I am still in a springtime state of mind, even if it's cold out, so today I have a cute spring inspired card to share with you:

I've used the cute For the Birds set by Stampin' Up! for this card.  I think those little birds are so cute!  I stamped them using Jet Black Staz On ink and then watercolored them using my ink pads and a water pen.  The patterned papers are from the new Tea For Two DSP pack aslo by Stampin' Up!  The baker's twine is by The Twinery- this deep gray is their Stone color.

I created a little trio of cards using this set and will share the other two later this week!  These little birds really grew on me! :)

Well, I hope you are off to a great start this week!  We will be enjoying our week off, even if it's a little colder then normal around here this time of year! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

A Springtime Hello Card

Hello and happy Monday!

Did you have a good weekend? I spent the weekend with my family- we had a great time and I even got some crafting time in! Today is another story though... I've got a little girl home sick with the stomach bug. Yuck! I'm hopeful that it won't make the rounds through the whole house... I almost thought we made it through the winter without catching any bugs. It's been so mild this year and in VA where I live, it already feels like spring! Even my flowers think so- they've been up for a couple weeks now. With that springtime feeling in mind, I thought I'd share this card today:

Goodies:

cardstock- Stampin' Up!
patterned paper- October Afternoon Sidewalks Collection
sticker- October Afternoon Sidewalks Collection
stamp- Hooray Clear set by Studio Calico/Hero Arts

I love the look of the crazy patterned background. I've been gravitating towards patterns lately- lots of them! This line from October Afternoon is one of my favorites. I can't wait to see thier new lines in person! I have a feeling lots of my money will be going to them this spring! :)

Well, thank you for stopping by my blog today! I hope your day goes well!

Fun Ruffled Flowers Card

Hello!

I've got a pretty card to share today- one with some fun, 3-D flowers! And, they are easy to make, too! Here is my card:

Goodies:

Kindness Matters stamp set, Basic Black ink, Sahara Sand cardstock, Scallop Edge punch, Circle punches, Scallop Circle punch and Wisteria Wonder ribbon by Stampin' Up!
Vintage Vogue Collection patterned papers, Spool Buttons, Ephemera, and Ribbon Trims; Nantucket Collection Clear Stamps by Pink Paislee
Vintage Rose Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels

The flowers are so easy to make. To make the purple one, just take about half a yard of your favorite crochet trim and run a stitch through the bottom edge. Tie the ends of your string together to gather your trim into a flower. It will look great every time!

The scalloped paper flower is one of my all time favorite flowers to create. Just punch 4 scallop circles out of your favorite paper. Scrunch them each tightly into a ball with your hands- use a spritz of water if the paper is extra thick and tough to crinkle. Uncrinkle them and pile them on top of each other with your pattern facing up. Pierce a hole into the center, going through all of the scalloped circles. Add a brad to hold them together and then scrunch each layer around the brad until it is to your liking.

Not too hard, right? And they add so much texture to any project.

I'm going to be heading out the door shortly for an outing to Ikea! I love that store- so much inspiration and pretty things to buy! There is one in my town that I can go to when ever I want and I still get excited to visit. My girls have already put an order in for Swedish meatballs for dinner so I guess I'll be picking some of those up, too!

Hope you enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!
