Vintage Easter Card

Happy Saturday! I am excited because this weekend is one of only a few that I don't have any plans! I love that... we are just going to do what we feel like! I think I will take my daughter to the movies to see Alice in Wonderland. Then head to my friend Dawnette's house for some crafty fun this evening. Maybe tomorrow we'll head out to do something touristy around town!

I've been in a little mojo slump again but I finally pulled together this card for the most recent Just Add Ink challenge- Easter projects! Here is what I made:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Well Scripted, Friends, 24-7, Chic Boutique, Chocolate Bunny
Ink: Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Kraft, Confetti White, Soft Suede, Rose Red cardstock; Sweet Pea DSP
Accessories: Scallop Edge punch, White Signo gel pen, paper piercer, Rhinestone brads from Pretties kit; Champagne Shimmer Paint, SU! Floral Fusion Sizzlet Die, Dimensionals

I've added a coat of shimmer paint to the bunny but you can't really tell from the picture. I wanted him to have a little sparkle. I was going for a vintage, layered look...

There is still time to play along with Just Add Ink's challenge so if you have time, check it out!

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Thank You Cards

At my last workshop, the hostess asked specifically for thank yous as our make and takes so that is exactly what we did! Here they are:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Friends 24-7 set, En Francais background stamp
Ink: Soft Suede, Bashful Blue, Dusty Durango, Always Artichoke classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Soft Suede, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Dusty Durango cardstock
Accessories: Whisper White organza ribbon, Clear embossing powder, Scallop Edge punch, Aqua Painter, Dazzling Diamonds

I wrote in the sentiment after the card was finished because I couldn't decide where to put it with out taking away from the emboss resist background.

Here is the second card we made:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Season of Friendship set, Thank You Kindly set, Christmas Punch hostess set
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Kraft, Ruby Red, Pretty in Pink, Sage Shadow cardstock
Accessories: Clear embossing powder, White Signo gel pen, paper piercer, Scallop Edge punch, half-back pearls from Pretties Kit, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals

I had to use my favorite stamp set, hee!! I added the snow with the White gel pen and then added glitter to it for a special touch.

Today I'm catching up on cleaning up my stamp space... the mess has become out of hand and with people coming to visit tomorrow, I better get it picked up! Does cleaning inspire you? It sure inspires me- I think seeing all my stuff as I'm putting it away makes me want to use it. It's always nice to start with a clean pallet, too!

OK! Have a great day and if you are travelling, be safe!

Pretty card for a friend...

Today, I found some time to play along with Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge! I dug out one of my favorite retired colors... Wild Wasabi! Don't you wish some of those oldies would make a comeback? I am hoping for that someday... Anyways, here is what Dawn challenged us with this time:

And, here is what I made!

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Friends 24-7 set, En Francais background
Ink: Basic Black, Green Galore, Glorious Green (I had to mix them to look like Wild Wasabi which I don't have...), Barely Banana Classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, Basic Black cardstock; Candy Lane DSP
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Aqua Painter, Ice Circle Rhinestone brads, Valet ribbon originals, Scallop Edge punch, Dimensionals

I wasn't sure what to do with the colors in this challenge so I pulled out one of my favorite sets, played around for a few minutes and came up with this! It was a fun challenge, and since I really didn't have the matching ink, it was fun coming up with a solution to my problem!

Anyways, I'm keeping it short tonight... we got Twilight in the mail from Netflix today and I'm excited to watch it! I am currently reading the second book in the series and I think I'm hooked! I hope the movie does it justice.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #6

I love participating in Dawn McVey's color challenge! Her color choices are always bright and cheerful and usually colors that I wouldn't normally put together. For this one, she used a light aqua, a bright corally pink, chocolate brown, and white. Here is her inspirational photo:

For me, stamping with mostly Stampin' Up supplies, it was hard to find just the right shades in my stash... I finally found some patterned paper by Chatterbox and kind of went from there! Here is the card I made:

Goodies:
Products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Stamps: Polkadot background, Friends 24-7 set, Dreams DuJour set
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Cameo Coral Classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White cardstock; patterned paper by Chatterbox, Seaside paper by Lasting Impressions
Accessories: Sander block, Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Clear embossing powder, piercing tool, Dimensionals by Stampin' Up! Scallop Edge punch by Fiskars; miniature halfback pearls- unknown...

I love the look of the Polkadot background stamp on white paper. I stamped it with Versamark and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I think it just addes a little something to the background. I built up the layers on this card and had a hard time finding something to add to the middle as a focal point. I started with a large flower stamp, then tried a larger butterfly but since my inks are just a tad off, I went with the sentiment in brown... I added the butterfly last, using a stamped off version of Cameo Coral... it toned it down a little and matched the background paper a little better!

I am finally done with the big projects I was working on so I should be posting more regularly now! I am planning to work on Kristina Werner's latest color challenge this afternoon... if you have time, you should play along, too!!

Thanks for looking!

Old Favorites...

Before I joined the stamping world, one of my favorite techniques was dry embossing! I thought I'd bring out some of my old templates and play...

Here for You Card

Goodies:

Stamps: Friends 24-7 set; Cute and Curly set by Stampin' Up!
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black classic inks
Paper: cardstock by Bazzill Basics, Stampin' Up!, DCWV, and Core-dinations; patterned paper by Heidi Grace Designs
Accessories: Ribbon, halfback pearls, Scallop Edge punch, Curly Label punch by Stampin' Up!; Eiffel Tower embossing template by Lasting Impressions

I actually debossed the Eiffel tower image... it's the backside of my original design but it was much crisper looking then the embossed side when sanded! I thought this paper by Heidi Grace Designs was a perfect compliment to it. I love the purples!

Hope you all have a great weekend and have time to craft on National Scrapbooking Day! Thanks for stopping by this afternoon!

A Card for a Friend

Today's card is a quick one I created using Stampin' Up!'s Friends 24-7 set. This is one set that I rely on when I'm in a funk. Ideas always come when I bring it out! Here is what I made:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Friends 24-7 set; Friendly Words jumbo wheel
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Baja Breeze Classic inks
Paper: So Saffron, Whisper White, Kraft, Baja Breeze, Ruby Red cardstock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: Valet Ribbon Originals, Aqua Painter, Stamping Sponges, Dimensionals

I wanted to keep the look soft and muted. I sponged around the edges of my stamped pieces and stamped off on the background images. I stamped the focal points in Choclate Chip so they would stand out and then watercolored some more color into the bird's branch and feet. I also stamped the bird onto Baja Breeze cardstock and cut him out. It brings a lot more color then watercoloring him!

Thanks for looking today! I am getting excited about this weekend... an all day-all night crop on Saturday!! I was going to scrap some pages on NSD but I think I'll probably end up sticking with cards... hee! Hopefully I'll have lots to share next week!

Friendly Bird Card

I'm so glad that the WICKED SU! demo challenges on Splitcoast Stampers last an entire month! The card that I am sharing with you was actually started last week and I finally finished it up this morning! Funny how that happens sometimes, right? There are usually 3 WICKED challenges a month- a sketch, a color challenge, and a technique challenge. The challenge is to only use current Stampin' Up! products to create your cards. This card was inspired by the color challenge: to use Mellow Moss, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla together on a card. Here is what I came up with:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Friends 24-7 set, Fresh Cuts set, En Francais background
Ink: Chocolate Chip and Mellow Moss classic inks
Paper: Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip cardstock; Bella Rose DSP
Accessories: Very Vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Edge punch, Halfback Pearls from the Pretties kit; White Signo Gel pen, paper piercer, Sponges, Dimensionals, Blender pen

I lightly stamped the En Francais background onto the card base. Then, I used sponges to add Mellow Moss ink to the edges. I pierced holes around the outside and added faux stitching with the Signo gel pen. Next, I added my patterned paper, tearing one edge. I added a torn strip of Mellow Moss cardstock and a punched Chocolate Chip strip to the card base. I then added my ribbon. For the main image, I stamped the background using Mellow Moss ink on to Very Vanilla cardstock and inked around the edges using a sponge. I stamped the bird with Chocolate Chip ink onto Mellow Moss cardstock and cut him out. I then stamped the same image onto Very Vanilla cardstock and added a little color in the branch using residual ink and a blender pen. I cut the branch out and stuck it to my main image. Then, I added the bird, using Dimensionals to pop him up. I matted the whole thing in Chocolate Chip cardstock and adhered it to my card base. Next, I stamped my sentiment over the damask design on Very Vanilla cardstock and added Mellow Moss ink around the edges with a sponge. I also matted this in Chocolate Chip cardstock and adhered it to the card base with Dimensionals. Last, I added the halfback pearls in the corners of my main image. It just needed a little extra detail!

It is a rainy day here and I'm happy to be stuck inside! I have lots of ideas for cards in my head today and hopefully I can get some out on paper before they disappear! Hee!

Hope you all are enjoying your day!

Shabby Little Bird Card

Hi! After a busy weekend, I'm finally getting a chance to relax and blog a little! I made this card at my friend Dawnette's house on Saturday night- I love how this little guy turned out!

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Friends 24-7 set; En Francais background set
Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie Classic inks
Paper: Confetti White, Kraft card stock; Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip textured card stock; Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP
Accessories: Scallop Edge punch, Kraft taffeta ribbon, White Signo Gel pen, Aqua Painter, Piercing Tool, Sponge Daubers,Dimensionals; scrap of blue lace- Fancy Pants

I finally tried rouching my ribbon! I loved how it turned out and I think it looks great on this card! I stamped my bird in different colors by using the markers to fill in directly on the stamp. The flowers are watercolored and then cut out by hand. I inked around the edges of the DSP with a sponge dauber and some Chocolate Chip ink just to distress it a little.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope all of you have a great week!
