Hey Foxy Card

Hi!  How's your day going?  I am having a great day!  We had an extra busy long weekend packed with fun things and then today we have a snow day!!  It is just what I needed- I'm all caught up on my emails and projects and now I get to play! :)

My girlfriends came over yesterday for a crafty get together- we had fun chatting about crafty stuff and playing with each other's stamps!  I was determined to make a card for a challenge that I haven't gotten to play along with yet and tried and tried while they were here to get it done... I was having so much fun chatting that it didn't get done until after they left- and with a set of my own lol!  Here's my card:

I was inspired by the latest MFT Color Challenge :)  I used the Cute Critters set and decided to keep the layout simple since the stamps are pretty big.  I stamped and cut out the fox and stump then paper pieced the red patterned paper onto the fox.  I added just a bit of glossy accents to his nose :)

I'm going to try to make more time for fun posts over the next few weeks so I can play along with some more new-to-me challenges!  Do you have a favorite or new fun challenge to share?  Let me know! :)

Newton's Nook Designs

Hello!  I have fun news to share today- Newton's Nook Designs is announcing their new design team and I'm staying on for another term!  I'm so excited to create with this season's releases and get to know all these great girls:

I am such a fan of Newton's Nook Designs fun stamps- I couldn't be happier! :)  I made a card to share with one of my NND stamp sets, Wild Child:

I'm in love with this set's baby animals with their mamas!  It just makes me smile!  I stamped them onto two different shades of brown cardstock and added some shading with my Copic markers.  I fussy cut the baby out of the lighter color and pieced him in over the darker mama bear.  Then I cut out around both of them leaving just a bit of an edge.

I paired these cute little bears with papers from My Mind's Eye Now and Then Izzy 6x6 pad and my favorite tag die by Reverse Confetti.

Thanks for popping by here today!  Don't forget to visit the Newton's Nook Designs blog to learn a little more about the fabulous team this term!  I can't wait to see what they have in store for us!

A Happy Camper Hello Card

Good morning!  I thought I'd pop on this morning and share a fun card I made recently.  This one features the adorable Happy Trails stamp set by Lawn Fawn:

I started my card by stamping the stars from Starry Backdrops onto a robin's egg blue card base.  I used Versamark and then added clear embossing powder and heat set it for a shiny finish.

I diecut a large stitched journaling card and cut it to fit my card front.  I stamped my scene using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then paper pieced the trees in.  I added the sun in yellow and the hello, too.  I stamped the camper onto white cardstock and fussy cut around it.  I colored the camper with a silver paint pen and then shadowed over it using Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  I added some shadows and ground using the pencils and a copic marker, too.

I finished my card by adding a banner of the striped paper from the Hello Sunshine 6x6 pad.  I embellished it with a few sequins from the same collection and a bit of linen thread.

This one was fun!  I love how the camper turned out using the silver paint marker- I can't wait to use that again!  I am adding this to the Lawnscaping Challenge this week- it's all about embossing:

Well, I hope you have a fun day!  If you have time, don't forget to pop over and vote for this round of Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine's Gallery Idol contest- I'm hoping to make it into the next round!!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Newton's Nook Designs August Release- Wagons of Wishes

Hello!  It's day two of Newton's Nook Designs August release!  Today the design team is sharing cards made with the new Wagons of Wishes set!  It's another fun one!  Check out what I made:

This set is so fun because you can add different things to the wagon!  I chose to add the flowers for this one.  I paper pieced the little wagon with some red polka-dot paper then stamped the flowers inside.  I colored them with Copic markers.  The papers are by Little Yellow Bicycle and work perfectly for the vintage look I was going for.  I finished my card by stamping the sentiment onto a banner and embellishing it with a genuine vintage button from my Great Grandma Ollie's collection.  I love that I can use something she saved for so long in my crafts today!

I am already plotting a few more cards with this set!  I think I'll make the girls' teachers some cards for the first day of school!

Don't forget to pop over and visit the Newton's Nook Designs blog to check out the full set!  They are graciously giving away two of each of their new sets- here is the information:

Camping Card

I was lucky enough to have two cards picked up for the July issue of CARDS Magazine!  I thought I'd share one of them today!  It makes me smile, since I love camping!!

I paired stamps from three different Paper Smooches sets on this card!  The trees are from the Warm Hearts set, the tent is from the Happy Camper set, and the sentiment is from the Get Outta Town set.  Aren't they cute together?  Hee! I paper pieced each of the trees and the tent.  Next I added some shadows with my markers.  I added the sentiment last, keeping the over all design pretty simple.

We are planning a camping trip in a couple more weeks!  Our tent is blue, just like on the card but this time we'll be staying in a camper with my in-laws!  I can't wait!

Hope you have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

A Fun Camera Card

Hello!

Today is the first day of summer break!  The girls are so excited and I am so ready for it!  We have a bunch of things planned this summer and I've been looking forward for it for months!  Something else I've been looking forward to was seeing the card I'm sharing with you today in print!  It was published in CARDS Magazine's June issue:

When I saw the issue, I was so excited!  The card looked great in print and it even had a two-page spread!  Hee!  Pretty exciting for me anyways!

For this card, I started with that cute camera stamp from the Perpetual Bliss set by Paper Smooches.  I stamped it onto the patterned papers and onto white cardstock.  I cut out the lenses and paper pieced them onto the patterned cameras.  I colored them using Copic markers and highlighted them with inks.  The papers are from the Seen & Noted line by Pebbles, Inc.  I used their 6x6 pad so that the prints are just the right size for paper piecing.

Well, I better get going- I know the girls will be up soon and ready for a day of swimming!  I can't wait!

Polka-Dot Henry Card

Hi there!

Well, I made it through the Monday after daylight savings... let me tell you- it was a tough one!  Definitely a two-cup-of-coffee day! lol!  I'm feeling much better today and much less crabby!

I thought I'd pop on this morning and share a quick card I made using the cute Henry Says set by Stampin' Up!:

I paper pieced him using a My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad that I borrowed from my friend Kristen at the retreat.  The grey polka-dots were perfect!  The tag was made from the We R Memory Keepers Simply Spring 6x6 pad.  After I pieced him onto the tag, I added a little shadow with my aqua brush and Crumb Cake ink.

This one was quick and easy and could work for a boy or a girl!  That works for me! :)  This stamp set was very fun to use!

Well, I'm going to keep this short and get a head start on my day- I am determined for it to be a great one!  I've got some projects on my list of things to do that I'm itching to get started on... gotta love it when card making is first on the list! :)

Hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Travels Card

Hello!

Today is Thursday!  Not feeling well at the beginning of the week made the rest of the days fly by!  I felt a lot better yesterday and went shopping at Scrapdoodles, my local lss... I picked out so many cute things!  I can't wait to start making stuff with it all!

I thought I'd share a fun card I made using the Get Outta Town set by Paper Smooches:

I've paired this fun stamp set with the Just Because collection by Little Yellow Bicycle.  I loved the colors in this line!  I bought some for cards and some for a scrapbook page, too!  Actually, I bought some more of it again yesterday for a class!  Hee!  I guess I'm serious when I say loved!

The suitcases here have been colored using copics.  The flower was stamped onto patterned paper and fussy cut out.  I added a little coloring to it as well with the copics and my Signo white gel pen. In real life, you can see some sparkles thanks to my glitter pen on the case handles and on the center of the flower.

Well, I better go!  I'm making yummy chicken noodle soup for dinner and it's time to add the noodles! :)  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

You Rock Card

Hello!  Hope you are having a great Monday!  We are off to a late start today because of some freezing rain we had in our area.  It's kind of nice sleeping in on a Monday!  Hee!

Today I want to share a card I made for the latest Paper Crafts Magazine call- it didn't get picked up but I still love it!  I used some fun Paper Smooches stamp sets for this one:

I had so much fun piecing this little (juke box?  radio?) together! It is from the Perpetual Bliss set which has fast become my favorite stamp set! The sentiments are from a few different sets that I paired together for this look.  Can you tell it was for the sketch challenge call?

I usually don't share my rejected call cards but this one made me smile so I had to!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Birthday Card for Grandma

Today is Saturday and I've got all sorts of things planned but I wanted to pop on and share the card I created for my Grandma Donna's birthday. (see mom, I didn't forget! Hee!) I used one of my favorite stamp sets by Stampin' Up, Bloomin' Beautiful. The flowers are just so much fun to watercolor! Here is the card:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! Unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful set, Upsy Daisy set
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral, Mellow Moss Classic inks; Jet Black Staz On
Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom card stock; watercolor paper; patterned paper by Kaiser Craft
Accessories: Very Vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon, Corner Rounder punch, Paper Piercer, Crystal Effects, White Signo gel pen, Dimensionals, Aquapainter, Gold Liquid Pearls by Ranger Arts

I inked and added faux stitching around all the edges for an added touch. I also added Crystal Effects over the vase so it looks like glass. A little paper piecing and watercoloring and voila!

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

It's Color Challenge Day Again!

Last night while I was uploading some new cards onto SCS, I thought I'd check out some of my favorite blogs including Kristine Werner's. I was so excited when I saw she put up a new color challenge!!

Here is her Inspiration for us:

So, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Rose Red, and Whisper White?? I can't wait to see what everyone else did because this was hard for me! Here is my card:

Goodies
All products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Sock Monkey set, Polka Dot, A Little Birthday Cheer set
Inks: Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Regal Rose
Paper: Pacific Point textured card stock; Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Rose Red card stock, and Sweet Always DSP
Other: Eyelet and Ribbon by American Crafts; Stickles by Ranger; Dimensionals

I started with the Sock Monkey stamp. I've been wanting to piece together one of these since I got it so today I tried! The patterned paper is from the Sweet Always DSP pack. After piecing him together, he needed somewhere to sit so I made him a little paper box. Then I got to work on the back grounds! For some reason, this color scheme was screaming polka dots to me! So, that is what I used! I had some larger ones on the Kiwi piece to start with but it was a little too much so I opted for the cute cupcakes instead. I added a cupcake to the monkey's hand, sprinkled with a little stickles! Over all, not too bad. I can't wait to see what everyone else posts!!

Since you are all into Color Challenges as much as I am, you can understand how sad it is when a card goes bad, only minutes before the deadline... Here was the card I made for Kristine's last challenge, which was a great color scheme- I just messed it up totally!

I had this really great idea to distress the roses so I crumpled them up. Then I realized you really couldn't see the color any more. So, I distressed them a little more with some light ink. Then, they were just brown and you still couldn't see the color any more. Then I thought maybe I could save them with some watercoloring with a darker pink. So, I did, and it was awful. Then, just in case it would hide all the other flaws, I added some crystal effects- I was going for that morning dew look... it looked like snot! Poor little rose card!

Well, a few days later, I re stamped and cut out all the flowers again. This time I left them plain! Here is the redone card:

What can you do, right? At least I can still use it as a great sample of some two step stamping! Hee!

Thanks for looking!

Crazy for Cupcakes Card

I thought I'd post a card I created last night. I was so excited when I saw this set in the new catalog- who doesn't like cupcakes! I ordered at the beginning of August and finally used it yesterday! I took the colors from the Sweet Always DSP and the design is courtesy of the September WICKED challenge on SCS- here it is:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes set
Inks: Basic Brown, Pumpkin Pie, Pink Pirouette, Apricot Appeal, Regal Rose Classic Stampin' Pad
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White card stock; Sweet DSP
Other: Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds, Scallop Edge Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Paper Piercer, Dimensionals

I Paper pieced the cupcake together by stamping it 3 times- once on the patterned paper, once on Apricot Appeal card stock, and once on Whisper White card stock. I cut the candle out of the Whisper White image and watercolored the flame with Apricot Appeal ink. I cut out the frosting from the Apricot Appeal card stock and inked around the edges softly with Pumpkin Pie ink. I colored in the sprinkles with Chocolate Chip ink and Regal Rose ink and then added Dazzling Diamonds over the top. Last, I cut out the cup cake wrapper from the patterned paper and inked the edges with Pink Pirouette ink. Paper piecing is a great way to add dimension to a project!

I wanted to share a picture of my sweet Natalie today, too! She is getting so big! I snapped these as I was taking pictures of my cards today:

Hope you have a great day! Thanks for peeking at my blog!
