I always love Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Mini Catalog... and this years is the best yet! I seriously want everything inside it! Hee! One of my favorite things is the variety of patterned paper they are offering. I couldn't resist and ordered two of them already! Today's cards are made with the Candy Cane Christmas DSP pack- it is a specialty DSP so there is beautiful red glitter added to some of the designs! Here are my cards so you can take a peek:

Sock Monkey Card

I am on team Sock Monkey. I know a lot of stampers out there don't like this little guy but I think he's cute and I'm happy to say he made it into the new Stampin' Up! catalog. And, the artists at Stampin' Up! must like him, too because they gave him a whole new set of goodies to accessorize with! Hee! It is on my list for July 1st when the catalog goes live... until then though, here is a card with the silly sock monkey:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Stamps: Sock Monkey
Ink: Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Real Red, Versamark
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Real Red, Confetti White cardstock; Greenhouse Gala DSP
Accessories: paper piercer, aqua painter, white Signo gel pen, corner rounder(CM), red DMC thread

In honor of Just Add Ink's current challenge, I got out my needle and thread and did some real stitching on this one. I think the red thread gives it just a little something extra! The monkey is paper pieced on to the background. I softly inked each piece with the new Crumb Cake ink to give it a little more depth.

I know not everyone likes sock monkey... I've had students (Camisha) in classes do this to him:

Hee! He's got his eye on you!

Thanks for peeking and hope you have a great weekend!

My Friend the Sock Monkey...

Yes, I like the sock monkey set! Hee! I know a lot of people are against him (I've even had a customer draw red creepy eyes on him in class) but I love him... or her on my card today! Here it is:

Sock Monkey Makes Me Smile!

Making cards with the Sock Monkey set by Stampin' Up! always makes me smile! I made this card for a workshop I had last weekend at my friend Andrea's house- she's a fan of Sock Monkey, too! Here he is:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Sock Monkey set
Ink: Jet Black Staz On; Creamy Caramel, So Saffron, Ruby Red, Baja Breeze, and Chocolate Chip classic inks
Paper: Baja Breeze, Confetti, Kraft, Riding Hood Red card stock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: So Saffron wide grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Edge punch, Round Tab punch, Aqua Painter, Dimensionals

Watercoloring this little guy is always fun and quick to watercolor! Because of his childlike nature, you don't have to make it perfect and I think the little imperfections make him even more charming! It is a great set to start out with, unless, of course, you are afraid of monkeys, which is a little more common then I thought! Hee!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I am planning some crop time tomorrow night so hopefully I'll have some cute cards to show you on Monday!

Thanks for stopping by!

A Coffee Drinking Monkey!

So, this card has been working its way around my head for awhile now. As soon as I saw the little mug from the Bitty Basics hostess set, I knew it was made for the Sock Monkey!! I used Kristina Werner's color challenge colors in this, too. I thought they were great this week so I had to give it a second try! Hee! Here is the card:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Sock Monkey set, Bitty Basics set, Polka Dot background
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Ruby Red Classic Inks; Jet Black Staz On
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie card stock, Watercolor paper, Holiday Treasures DSP
Accessories: Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Edge punch, Dimensionals, Liquid Applique

The sock monkey is watercolored on watercolor paper. I kept the card simple so that he would really take center stage! I added a little foam on his coffee with liquid applique. He makes me smile!

Thanks for stopping by today! I will be busy doing inventory at my favorite scrapbook store today and tomorrow but I hope you have a great weekend!!

It's Color Challenge Day Again!

Last night while I was uploading some new cards onto SCS, I thought I'd check out some of my favorite blogs including Kristine Werner's. I was so excited when I saw she put up a new color challenge!!

Here is her Inspiration for us:

So, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Rose Red, and Whisper White?? I can't wait to see what everyone else did because this was hard for me! Here is my card:

Stamps: Sock Monkey set, Polka Dot, A Little Birthday Cheer set
Inks: Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Regal Rose
Paper: Pacific Point textured card stock; Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Rose Red card stock, and Sweet Always DSP
Other: Eyelet and Ribbon by American Crafts; Stickles by Ranger; Dimensionals

I started with the Sock Monkey stamp. I've been wanting to piece together one of these since I got it so today I tried! The patterned paper is from the Sweet Always DSP pack. After piecing him together, he needed somewhere to sit so I made him a little paper box. Then I got to work on the back grounds! For some reason, this color scheme was screaming polka dots to me! So, that is what I used! I had some larger ones on the Kiwi piece to start with but it was a little too much so I opted for the cute cupcakes instead. I added a cupcake to the monkey's hand, sprinkled with a little stickles! Over all, not too bad. I can't wait to see what everyone else posts!!

Since you are all into Color Challenges as much as I am, you can understand how sad it is when a card goes bad, only minutes before the deadline... Here was the card I made for Kristine's last challenge, which was a great color scheme- I just messed it up totally!

I had this really great idea to distress the roses so I crumpled them up. Then I realized you really couldn't see the color any more. So, I distressed them a little more with some light ink. Then, they were just brown and you still couldn't see the color any more. Then I thought maybe I could save them with some watercoloring with a darker pink. So, I did, and it was awful. Then, just in case it would hide all the other flaws, I added some crystal effects- I was going for that morning dew look... it looked like snot! Poor little rose card!

Well, a few days later, I re stamped and cut out all the flowers again. This time I left them plain! Here is the redone card:

What can you do, right? At least I can still use it as a great sample of some two step stamping! Hee!

Thanks for looking!

Some Cards

Just thought I'd pop in and share some cards I've made recently... I am going to be crafting with my Mom and Sister tomorrow! Should be fun! We are going to get a head start on Christmas cards!!

Happiness Blooms Card

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless noted

Stamps: Eastern Blooms set; Heard from the Heart set
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Cameo Coral, and Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin' Pad
Paper: Kraft, Whisper White, and Pink Pirouette card stock; Bella Rose DSP
Other: Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals, Stickles(by Ranger)

I am really happy with the Eastern Blooms stamp set. It seems to have so much potential! For my focal point on this card, I stamped 2 large flowers with Pink Pirouette ink on Whisper White card stock. I stamped a Cameo Coral flower on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it out. I added it to the center of the first piece using a Dimensional pop dot to pop it up. Then I matted the piece in Kraft card stock. For the background, I cut a piece of the Kiwi Kiss Bella Rose DSP to fit my card front. I also cut a piece of Pink Pirouette card stock to fit the bottom part of my card front. I used the branch stamp from the set to stamp on it with Pink Pirouette ink. When it was full of the design, I adhered both pieces to a Whisper White card stock matt. I added a piece of Chocolate Chip ribbon down the seam and then adhered my focal point to the center. I stamped my sentiment along the bottom in Chocolate Chip ink and then adhered the entire piece to my Kraft card base. I really like how these colors came together!

Silly Monkey Card

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless noted

Stamps: Sock Monkey set
Ink: Basic Black, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Ruby Red, So Saffron Classic Stampin' Pad
Paper: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Confetti White, and Ruby Red card stock
Other: Silver Brads; Dimensionals: Aqua Painter

To start out, I created a card base of Baja Breeze. I then cut a piece of So Saffron card stock to fit the center of my card front. I stamped the balloon repeatedly on this piece with So Saffron ink to make a cute background paper. I also inked the edges with So Saffron ink to add a little dimension. Next I added a piece of slightly distressed (on the edges) Ruby Red card stock. After this, I started working on the little monkey! I stamped him in black ink on Confetti White card stock. I watercolored him with residual ink (left in the top of the ink case after pressing the ink pad to it). I matted this with Chocolate Chip card stock and then added it to the card front. Next, I stamped a balloon with Basic Black ink on Baja Breeze card stock and cut it out. I adhered it to the card front with a Dimensional pop dot and drew in the string with a black pen. To finish the card off, I added two silver brads to one side of the focal point and added the sentiment to the bottom of the card.

OK. I also wanted to share a card I made for a swap I joined on SCS. I originally posted about it here but ended up having to change the size because I felt bad not sending an envelope with the larger card... I just cut it around 3 of the edges so that it was a more standard size.

Well, I hope you all have a great weekend! I can't wait to have some fun card making with my mom and sister!!

My New Goodies!!

I've finally got them and found time to play!! The new in colors are great! And the stamp sets that I chose, I really like! Very versatile and can be used on a number of different projects... Here are a few samples:

This was the first that I made:

Goodies:
All products were by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Dreams Du Jour set
Ink: Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, and Kiwi Kiss Classic inks
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black, and Whisper White card stock; Bella Rose Design Series Paper(DSP)
Other: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scallop boarder punch

The scallop on the bottom was done with the new scallop boarder punch. It is great! I used to use my corner rounder to do it one scallop at a time so this saves me lots of time! I love it!

Here is another card with another stamp set. It has been getting mixed reviews in the stamping communities... I like it though- it's a monkey! Hee Hee!

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Sock Monkey set
Ink: Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Barely Banana, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa Classic inks
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black, So Saffron, Red Riding Hood Red, and Whisper White card stock
Other: scallop circle punch, spiral notebook punch, hemp twine, dimensionals

I cased this design from this card at Split Coast. I just love the bananas!!

I love how this card turned out. I am partial to orange, since it is my favorite color! Here is the card:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Sprinkles set; Heard from the Heart set
Ink: So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss Classic inks
Paper: Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss, So Saffron card stock
Other: Scallop Circle punch, 1" Circle punch, Pretties Kit (jewels, dimensionals

OK. My last one is another using the Dreams Du Jour set. I think this will be my favorite out of my sneak peek bunch. The images can be used on so many different projects! Anyways, here it is:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Dreams Du Jour set
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red
Paper: Riding Hood Red and Whisper White card stock; Pink Pirouette textured card stock; Bella Rose DSP
Other: stampin' glitter, 1/2" circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, scallop circle punch, dimensionals

I made polka dots with my textured card stock to mimic dry embossing. I rocked the stamp in Riding Hood Red after inking up with Pink Pirouette so I could turn the edges a different color.

I hope you like what you see! The new catalog should be great! They have been showing us little sneak peeks in videos and magazines and I can not wait! Less then a month to wait now...

Hope you are all having a great day!
