You Rock Card

Hello!
I'm popping on today to share a card I made for the current Freshly Made Sketch Challenge:

I got some new Stampin' Up! goodies recently and was excited to use this one- it's called You Rock:

I stamped the rocker out with Staz On ink on watercolor paper.  I colored it with my Bermuda Bay ink pad.  I fussy cut around it and set it aside.  The background panel is also watercolor paper.  I sponged Calypso Coral ink over it and then splattered it with water to give it a splattered look.  I added the background panel onto my Sahara Sand card base and then stamped the sentiment.   I added the strip of gold striped vellum on the bottom.  The thread was added next and pinned down with the rocker which was adhered with dimensionals.  I added just a few sequins to finish off the look:

I always love playing along with Freshly Made Sketches!  I'm glad I had time- this sketch was so cute!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Waffle Flower Challenge- You Rock Card

Hi!  Today I have a fun card I made for the new Waffle Flower Challenge!  Waffle Flower Stamps will be hosting a challenge each month, starting on the 15th and running through the 25th of the next month.  You'll have over a month to participate with each challenge!  And, even better, there are two categories- a sketch and a technique to inspire you.  You can enter as many times between June 15th and July 25th as you want for your chance to win a stamp set of your choice!

I loved both the sketch and the technique challenges for the Waffle Flower Challenge June/July 2014  but chose the sketch to work with:

Isn't it a great sketch?  Here is my card:

I used the Rock My World stamp set to stamp out 5 different rocks.  For the larger ones, I used the back of the stamps that had writing on them.
I used a technique I came up with to give them the texture of real rocks- I started by inking the stamps with a light colored ink and stamping off.  Next, I splattered ink and mists onto the stamp surface and then huffed on the stamp.  I stamped them on to white cardstock and cut out around each rock.
I stamped my sentiment on to the largest rock using black ink.  It's a mixture of two sentiments from the set.

Along with the Waffle Flower Rock My World stamp set, I used some patterned paper and epoxy dots from Teresa Collins Designs, a faux stitched sticker by SRM Stickers, and inks and mists from Stampin' Up, Heidi Swapp, Studio Calico, and Dylusions.

I'm so happy to be part of the first Waffle Flower Challenge Design Team!  Nina is so creative- I love her stamps and her style!  I can't wait to see what challenges she'll create next! :)  I hope you'll pop over to the Waffle Flower blog to see what the rest of the team created and to play along if you have a chance!

Family Forever Layout

Happy Friday!  It's been a great day here- finished up my Christmas shopping and got everything wrapped and under the tree!  The girls got home from school all sugared up and ready for vacation.  Luckily, we are having a warm streak- it was almost 70 out today!  I sent them outside to play! :)

Before we settle in for Christmas break, I thought I'd pop on and share my latest layout for Inspired Blueprints.  Number 115 went live today!  Here is my take on the sketch:

Family Forever Layout

This was a great sketch!  I was able to use three 4x6 photos.  I stuck to the sketch, adding a few more tags and embellishments.  I ended up not journaling much- these were just silly selfies from our last hike before winter.  We do this all the time but it was fun to scrap these cause they were pretty funny!

Family Forever Layout 2

The papers and embellishment stickers are from the Head Over Heels collection by Echo Park.  I also used a few stickers from My Mind's Eye's Cupids Arrow collection.  The colors in both lines are pretty close so they worked well together!

The Inspired Blueprint design team did a great job with this sketch!  Pop over to the IB blog to see what they did and to see the original sketch.

Well, hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Coffee and Friends Warm the Heart Card

Hi!  It's Monday but it doesn't feel like it- my girls are home from school because of the icy weather we woke up to.  Snow days are always fun and we are definitely enjoying it!

Today I wanted to share a card I made over the weekend.  I pulled out my newest goodies from Reverse Confetti to play along with their December Sketch For You To Try.  Here's my card:

Coffee Card 1

Great sketch, right?  I really enjoyed it!  I also enjoyed playing with the adorable Be a Barista set- being a coffee lover, it's right up my alley!

I paper pieced my coffee cup using some fun prints from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid mini pad.  I added some shadowing with my Copic markers and then added it to the center of my die-cut tag.  I added the sentiment last, die-cutting a banner to put it on.

Coffee Card 2

I'm so glad I found some time to play along with their challenge!  Pop over to the Reverse Confetti blog to see the original sketch.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Harvest with Newton's Nook

Good Morning!

I just got back from the dentist! :) You know how that goes!  Hee!  Luckily all the people at my office are so friendly and fun!  I don't mind going so much.

I wanted to pop on because there is a new challenge up on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog today!  I had fun playing along!

Here is the sketch:

And here is the card I came up with using it:

I enjoyed coloring the image with my Copics this time around!  The papers are from last year's October Afternoon Witch Hazel line.  I still love that plaid!

I hope you have time to play along with the sketch!  Pop over to the Newton's Nook Designs Blog to see what the other designers did with the sketch!

Newton's Nook Designs First Inky Paws Challenge!

Good Morning!

I have a cute card to share with you today inspired by the first Inky Paws Challenge by Newton's Nook Designs!

Their first challenge is a sketch challenge and I chose to use the adorable Newton's Antics set with it:

After creating a card base with light gray cardstock, I added a panel of the floral paper from my 8x8 Travel Girl pad by October Afternoon.  I added a strip of orange and pink damask next and wrapped it with linen thread.  I cut a large circle out of natural white cardstock.  I stamped the kitty and my two sentiments onto the circle with Memento ink.  I colored the image using my Copic markers.  To finish off the design, I added a trio of buttons and adhered the circle to my card front using foam dimensional adhesive dots.

The sentiments on this are from the Winged Wishes set.  I love how easily they work together!

If you'd like to play along with us or just want to check out the sketch please pop over to the Newton's Nook Designs blog for more information!  They have also added a free digi image for you to play along with!  It's a cute one! :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Ready For Spring...

Being cooped up in the house for four days because of the snow makes you yearn for spring... sunshine, flowers, and blossoming trees! That is what I was thinking about this afternoon when I made this card:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Season of Friendship set, Cute and Curly set; Sprinkles
Ink: Old Olive, Rose Red, Soft Suede Classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Kraft, Rose Red, Crushed Curry, Whisper White cardstock; The Write Stuff DSP
Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Hemp Twine, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Latte Button Assortment

The sketch for this design was inspired by Just Add Ink's latest challenge:

I thought it was a great sketch- simple looking but the circle makes it interesting... and a little tricky! Hee! If you have time, give it a whirl!

Hope you are enjoying your afternoon!

Trio of Ornaments Card

While surfing through blogland this week, I came across a sketch challenge on a favorite blog of mine and loved the design! I had to try it out myself! Here is the sketch found on Gretchen Barron's blog:

And, here is my card:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Four the Holidays set, Christmas Classics set
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Ruby Red, Basic Black classic inks
Paper: Whisper White, Ruby Red cardstock; Christmas Cocoa DSP
Accessories: Pretty in Pink satin ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Aqua Painter, Top Note die; DMC thread in black

Thanks Gretchen for the great sketch idea! I wanted to keep it pretty simple so I watercolored my ornaments and added some glitter for sparkle! The new Pretty in Pink satin ribbon also created a softness that I just love!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! If you have a chance, stop by Gretchen's blog and play along with her challenge!

Bluebird of Happiness Card

Hello!

I have been having fun procrastinating this week on a really big project that is due this weekend... I have dreaded this project and it seems like tomorrow I may actually have to work on it! Hee! Instead, today, I played along with some challenges!

Today's card was inspired by Caardvark's Sketchfest! I've been having fun participating!! Here is my card:

I wonder if I'll ever use up this little pad of Making Memories paper... I've had it since last spring and I'm still going on it! Hee! The colors are so fun and cheerful!

Well, I'll keep this short today since I've got to get cookin' on dinner!

Thanks for stopping by!

Make Merry Card

Today was a good day! I got to play in my craft area for quite some time and whipped up a bunch of cute cards! Tonight I'm just posting one- it's for a challenge with a deadline! Caardvarks is hosting a sketch marathon this week!! I haven't gotten to play along with any of their challenges yet so I am really excited to find the time today! Here is my card:

I used the new Berry Christmas set from Stampin' Up's mini catalog. I think it is such a versatile set but I hate the greeting that comes with it! Make Merry?? It sounds so bossy... oh well, I used it anyways! Hee!

For this card, everything is pretty straight forward... I added some Crystal Effects to the wreath sort of randomly for a little sparkle and dimension. I also inked around the edges of most of the cardstock pieces to soften it a bit. The stitching is faux, too!

Anyways, I'm in the middle of the House premier so I better get back! It started out pretty interesting!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!!
