Glimmer Mist and Tulle...

Good Morning! Hope you all enjoyed the weekend... mine are never long enough! I did get to play a little down at my favorite LSS Scrapdoodles though and that is always fun!

Today I'm sharing a card I made using some homemade glimmer mist tissue flowers. I found this technique featured in CK over the summer and thought they were cute and very easy to repeat! I made several in all different colors- this card shows three of them:

Goodies:

Stamps: Upsy Daisy set by Stampin' Up!
Ink: Basic Black by Stampin' Up!
Paper: Basic Black cardstock by Stampin' Up!; patterned papers by Crate Paper
Accessories: Pashmina, Lime, and Raven Glimmer Mists by Tattered Angels; Dew Drops; Glitter by Stampin' Up!; Tulle by Bazzill Basics; white tissue paper

To make these flowers, you need plain white tissue paper to start with. You can punch out or hand cut out lots and lots of circles in all different sizes. This is pretty easy because you can do about 6 sheets at a time because it is so thin! If you are hand cutting the circles, don't worry about them being perfect- you want them to ruffle up anyways!

Once you have your circles cut, lay them out on a piece of newspaper and spray them all with the glimmer mist of your choice. I really saturated mine. Next, heat set them to speed up the drying process. Then, adhere the layers together... I found glue sticks to work the best for this- they aren't bulky and didn't tear up the tissue paper. I started with the smallest one and just built back from there. You can add different items to the center of your flowers, too. Here, I used glitter, Dew Drops, and a button.

I created the tulle ruffle by running a little adhesive to my card base. I stuck the tulle down, bunching it as I went. Then, I went back and back stitched a line of DMC thread to hold it all in place. The texture is really pretty in real life!

I hope you enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping by for a peek at what I made!

A Citrus Challenge...

So, last week the Moxie Fab World blog posted a challenge to use this picture from Pottery Barn as inspiration to make a card:

I decided to participate and here is what I came up with:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Upsy Daisy set; Simple Friendship set
Ink: Barely Banana, So Saffron, Summer Sun, Kiwi Kiss, Certainly Celery, Old Olive classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Kraft, Whisper White cardstock; Glossy White cardstock, Bella Rose DSP
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, Scallop Edge punch, So Saffron wide grosgrain ribbon, Clear embossing powder, Stamping Sponges, Dimensionals

Well, after I was all done yesterday, I took some pictures of the card and none of them turned out... I had to wait for this morning to retake them and what do you know, I missed the deadline for the contest! Oh well!

For the background layer, I stamped the flowers onto glossy cardstock using Versamark. Then I heat embossed them using clear embossing powder. next, I started with my yellows and sponged the ink onto the glossy cardstock. I worked my way down into the greens, covering the entire stamped image. The ink doesn't stick to the embossing powder and really lets the silhouettes stand out! Next, I ruffled my Kiwi Kiss DSP and stuck it to the scalloped edge piece. I stuck this to the background piece and added the ribbon then I stuck it all to a Kraft card base. After I thought I was done, I decided to add a butterfly to the corner. Really, it was because I made a stupid mistake of putting my thumb in green ink and leaving a print on the yellow part of the piece! Hee! Gotta cover those mistakes!

Anyways, I am so in the mood to craft today! I am expecting UPS any minute with my new Stampin' Up! goodies!! I can't wait to see the new incolors in real life!! I have a feeling I'll have a lot to share if I find time to play!!

Thanks for popping by today!

Fawn Card

I think my favorite set out of this season's Stampin' Up! mini is the one I used today... Forest Friends! The little animals just make me smile! I really wanted to post a SUO (Stampin' Up! Only) card today so I didn't add any flocking to this little guy but boy did I want to! He only gets cuter with fuzz! Hee! Anyways, here is the card I did:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Forest Friends set, Upsy Daisy set
Ink: Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, Bashful Blue, Basic Gray classic inks
Paper: Basic Gray, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue cardstock; Maine Blueberry DSP (retired)
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Paper Piercer, White Signo Gel pen, Stampin' Sponge, Aqua Painter, Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain ribbon, Dimensionals

Although I love the little critters in this set, using them has been somewhat of a challenge because they are pretty small. I had to build a little home for the little deer so he wouldn't get lost on my card! I started by stamping the tree on white cardstock using my markers. Next, Painted in some grass blades around the tree and the bottom of the cardstock piece. After that, I inked up a corner of a piece of a Stampin' Sponge with Kiwi Kiss ink and sponged around the grass to give it some soft color. I added the blue sky the same way, only with Bashful Blue ink instead! I added the cut out deer with dimensionals so it looks like he's standing off to the side a little.

I've been busy working on a couple of projects that have deadlines coming up. One is my friend Mya's wedding invites which should be in the mail tomorrow! I can't wait to share them with you but I may wait until she sends them out as to not ruin the surprise for anyone... I am also working on class projects for Scrapdoodles this week! I'll share them for sure!

Hope you are all having a great Monday!!

Another Mother's Day Gift

Today I'm sharing the gift I made for my mom. I did a set of monogram cards in a gift box and made her a card, too! Here it is:

I really love these colors together and I think my mom will, too. She is a gardener so I think she'll get a kick out of the terra cotta pot card! It was fun to make, too!

I'm going to have to cut this short tonight... Zoey isn't feeling her best and seems to need her mommy... Thanks for stopping by though!

Mother's Day Gift Sets...

With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I am working on a few gifts for the mothers that I love! I decided to make them all a set of monogram cards in a matching box like I created last week. I am sharing one today for my step-mom Renee, or Nay-Nay as my girls call her! Here is the set:

Her card:

The Box:

The Card Set:

Goodies:
All products are by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Together Forever set, Simple Friendship set, Upsy Daisy set, Lovely Letters alphabet
Ink: Choclate Chip, Baja Breeze, and Soft Sky classic inks; Chocolate Chip craft ink
Paper: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip cardstock; Glossy White cardstock; Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP
Accessories: Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Edge punch, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals, Whisper White jumbo grommets

I wanted to keep the design simple since Mother's Day is fast approaching! I used the striped wipe technique to make the Upsy Daisy card. I thought I'd try stamping over it with craft ink and I like how it dried matte. It looks kind of neat against the glossy background!

Well, hope your day is going well! We are heading to Ikea for some much needed toy storage! Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Card for Grandma

Today is Saturday and I've got all sorts of things planned but I wanted to pop on and share the card I created for my Grandma Donna's birthday. (see mom, I didn't forget! Hee!) I used one of my favorite stamp sets by Stampin' Up, Bloomin' Beautiful. The flowers are just so much fun to watercolor! Here is the card:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! Unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful set, Upsy Daisy set
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral, Mellow Moss Classic inks; Jet Black Staz On
Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom card stock; watercolor paper; patterned paper by Kaiser Craft
Accessories: Very Vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon, Corner Rounder punch, Paper Piercer, Crystal Effects, White Signo gel pen, Dimensionals, Aquapainter, Gold Liquid Pearls by Ranger Arts

I inked and added faux stitching around all the edges for an added touch. I also added Crystal Effects over the vase so it looks like glass. A little paper piecing and watercoloring and voila!

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Gotta Love Swaps!

Last week I had two swap cards due. One for a small group of SCS friends and the other for my Recollections girls! We haven't been able to get together for soo long so it was great to see everyone who came! I ended up making four different cards to choose from on Friday... Here are the winners!

For the SCS monthly swap:

Goodies:
All Products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Always set
Ink: Versamark; Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive Classic Inks
Paper: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy card stock; Holiday Treasures DSP
Other: Silver brads, Scallop Edge Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

This card is a case of my own from earlier this year. I love the way the heart turned out with the blues- I used the emboss resist technique on it. I also love this color scheme- I think it may have been one of Kristina Werner's challenges!

For the Reco Girls:

Goodies:
All Products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs set, Best Yet set(Hostess, Polkadot Background stamp
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Sage Shadow, More Mustard Classic Inks
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White card stock; Autumn Vines DSP
Other: Flower by Prima; Rounded Tab Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Corner Rounder, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch all by Stampin' Up!

I thought I'd make a pocket card since they are kind of special. And, I've had this Autumn Vines DSP since preorder but only used it once so far! I love the colors in it!

And, here are the rejects... although I'm sure most of the Recollections girls would have preferred something a little easier!! (it was a shoebox swap)

Goodies:
All Products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Upsy Daisy set, Best Yet set (hostess)
Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
Paper: Kraft, Pirouette Pink, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip card stock
Other: Vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon, Curly Label punch, Scallop edge punch

Pretty and simple... my kind of card!

One more:

Goodies:
All Products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Best Wishes and More set, Polkadot Background stamp
Ink: Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Chocolate Chip Classic Inks
Paper: Kraft, Whisper White, Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Chocolate Chip card stock
Other: Silver Brad, Scallop Edge punch, Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, Dimensionals

I decided to veto this one because of all the cutting... three snowflakes on each card! Yikes!

Anyways, those are my shares for now! I hope they inspire someone out there to get out the ink! Hee!
