A Card for a Friend

Today's card is a quick one I created using Stampin' Up!'s Friends 24-7 set. This is one set that I rely on when I'm in a funk. Ideas always come when I bring it out! Here is what I made:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Friends 24-7 set; Friendly Words jumbo wheel
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Baja Breeze Classic inks
Paper: So Saffron, Whisper White, Kraft, Baja Breeze, Ruby Red cardstock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: Valet Ribbon Originals, Aqua Painter, Stamping Sponges, Dimensionals

I wanted to keep the look soft and muted. I sponged around the edges of my stamped pieces and stamped off on the background images. I stamped the focal points in Choclate Chip so they would stand out and then watercolored some more color into the bird's branch and feet. I also stamped the bird onto Baja Breeze cardstock and cut him out. It brings a lot more color then watercoloring him!

Thanks for looking today! I am getting excited about this weekend... an all day-all night crop on Saturday!! I was going to scrap some pages on NSD but I think I'll probably end up sticking with cards... hee! Hopefully I'll have lots to share next week!

Sympathy Card

Today I had a little extra time during Natalie's nap to do some stamping. It's good because I actually needed to make this card. A good friend of my moms lost her husband in a tragic accident over the weekend and I wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to her. It is weird, I think (luckily) that this is the first sympathy card I've ever made. Here it is:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Heartfelt Thanks set, Thoughts and Prayers set
Ink: Ruby Red, Mellow Moss, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron Classic inks
Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand cardstock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, Curly Label punch, So Saffron wide grosgrain ribbon, Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon, Fire Rhinestone Circle brads, Dimensionals, Signo White Gel pen, Piercing tool

I paired the flowers from Heartfelt Thanks set with the sentiments from Thoughts and Prayers set. I love these flowers, even though I rarely use them! They are so easy and always look great on paper. The colors come from the Sweet Slumber DSP- which I also love! I sanded down the background polkadots to give it some texture and distress it a little. The ruffle was created using this great tutorial I found at Leah Killian's blog today... with out the sewing! My sewing machine is in need of a tune up so the only kind of sewing I do is the faux sewing, seen here around the edge of the card! Hee!

Anyways, today has been sort of weird with lots of little things popping up. I am going to sit back and relax tonight and watch American Idol and Lost! Hope you have a great evening!

Flowers for a Friend card

Hello! Today I wanted to share a couple of quick cards I made last night! I crop almost every weekend at my friend Dawnette's house and always have so much fun! Last night, our friend Brenda was also there and needed to come up with a baby card... I've been dying to make one of these cuties for soo long and finally had a chance! She loved it! Here is what we made:

Goodies:

Paper: Bazzill Basics, Stampin' Up!
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch, 5/8 Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch by Stampin' Up!; Star is from the George Cricut Cartridge.

I also made this last night:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Petal Pizazz set, Hope Happens set
Ink: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, So Saffron, Close to Cocoa Classic inks; Versamark
Paper: Kraft, Whisper White cardstock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: Top Note Sizzix Die, So Saffron Wide Grosgrain Ribbon, Pewter Build-a-Brads, Fire Circle Rhinestone brads, Dimensionals, Sponge Daubers, White embossing powder

I stamped and hand cut the flowers. Then I inked up the edges of my diecut and patterned paper. I added the ribbon and brads to the flowers. Next I stamped the quote on the diecut with Versamark and added white embossing powder. After I heat set it, I placed my flowers using dimensionals. The Petal Pizazz set is so easy to use! A few flowers with the right placement makes for an easy card!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend! I had a great one!

A Scottie Dog with Flowers

Today I'm posting my submission to Kristina Werner's latest Color Inspiration Challenge! If you have time today, play along! I loved the colors this week:

I really wanted to use my new Man's Best Friend set by Stampin' Up! and had plans of stamping this little guy and making an argyle background for him. The argyles I tried just didn't work! So he got some flowers instead! My favorite part is that I got to use my pretty flocking by DoodleBug finally! Stampin' Up!'s Heat and Stick Powder worked like a charm... the best product that I have found with flocking so far! Here is the little card:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Man's Best Friend set; Eastern Blooms set; Polkadot background
Ink: Versamark; Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Regal Rose Classic inks
Paper: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White cardstock; Bashful Blue textured cardstock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: Clear embossing powder, White embossing powder, Dazzling Diamonds, Fire Circle Rhinestone Brads, Black Brads, Valet Ribbon Originals, Dimensionals, Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon, Scallop Edge punch, Heat and Stick Powder, Crystal Effects; Flocking by DoodleBug

If you haven't used flocking before, it is very easy! I stamped my image in Versamark and then covered it with Heat and Stick powder. I heated it up and then shook some flocking onto it. After tapping the excess off, I heated it a second time to lock in the Flocking and that was it! Fuzziness completed! Hee! I'm going to try this with some Easter stamps I have, too! How cute would a fuzzy little Chickie be!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I'm off to my friend Dawnette's house tonight for some crop time. I've got a list of ideas I want to try so hopefully I'll have lots to share, soon!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sock Monkey Makes Me Smile!

Making cards with the Sock Monkey set by Stampin' Up! always makes me smile! I made this card for a workshop I had last weekend at my friend Andrea's house- she's a fan of Sock Monkey, too! Here he is:

Goodies:
All products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Sock Monkey set
Ink: Jet Black Staz On; Creamy Caramel, So Saffron, Ruby Red, Baja Breeze, and Chocolate Chip classic inks
Paper: Baja Breeze, Confetti, Kraft, Riding Hood Red card stock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: So Saffron wide grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Edge punch, Round Tab punch, Aqua Painter, Dimensionals

Watercoloring this little guy is always fun and quick to watercolor! Because of his childlike nature, you don't have to make it perfect and I think the little imperfections make him even more charming! It is a great set to start out with, unless, of course, you are afraid of monkeys, which is a little more common then I thought! Hee!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I am planning some crop time tomorrow night so hopefully I'll have some cute cards to show you on Monday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Enjoying my new goodies...

I finally got my first big order of Stampin' Up! goodies in the mail yesterday!! Of course, I broke them out as soon as I got them unpacked! Hee! I am loving the new textured DSP. It is really nice! The texture is like Crate Paper, for those of you who know that brand... it just adds a little something extra! Here is my first card using my new goodies:

Goodies:
All Products by Stampin' Up!

Stamps: A Kind Word set; Hope Happens set
Ink: Jet Black Staz On; Ruby Red, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze, Creamy Caramel, Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa and Kiwi Kiss Classic inks (used to watercolor)
Paper: Watercolor paper; Ruby Red, So Saffron, Baja Breeze card stock; Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP
Accessories: So Saffron wide grosgrain ribbon, piercing tool, White Signo gel pen, Aqua Painters, Filigree brads, Circle Rhinestone brads in Fire, dimesionals

The little girls in this set remind me of my little girls. They love kitties and the curls on this girl remind me of Little Natalie- that's why I made her a red head! Here is a picture of the girls from yesterday... they were playing dress up!

I can't wait to play with some more new goodies during nap time today! I am hoping to break out another set and get stamping! I'll try to share what I make tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by today!
